  • SkyTrak and The Golf Club (TGC) Simulation Software

Hi Seth. I'm new to this forum but have been reading as much as I can about SkyTrak on this and other forums. It seems that many experienced sim users think that The Golf Club game is the best simulator software out there right now. In fact, if I'm understanding and remembering things correctly, Bubba22 and Zmax were instrumental (please correct me if I'm wrong) in getting ProTee to integrate their sim hardware (and gc2) with The Golf Club software. So my question to you/SkyTrak is simply this: Has there been any thought to integrating SkyTrak with The Golf Club? And if so, what are the odds that this might happen? And if so, when?

Not to offend anyone, but my 2 cents:

Seems like a few "armchair quarterbacks" flexing their business smarts!

The golf sim market is Waaay different than the golf gamer market. And it's not just about changing the "swingometer" to a "golf launch o meter".

Those who bought the SkyTrak sight unseen, without any promise of simulation - many times with the justification - "it's good enough, I just want to work on my game, doesn't matter if there's no sim..." are now watching the chickens come home to roost.

TGC at $999 would be an absolute bargain, having used the software. As has been pointed out, Links LS (PC game) became E6 (Golf sim software) and it's pricing model is prohibitive.

I hate to say it but the smart money has chosen other options or stayed on the sidelines waiting for the SkyTrak offerring to play out. At present it's still all about promises.

I'm sure it will be a pretty penny, but to me it just doesn't seem like it was made for simulation. with e6, being able to drop your ball anywhere on the course and practice a shot, that makes it a true simulation experience. TGC to me is more of a game and just using your launch monitor to play it. I'm not hating on it because I'm sure I will be one of the ones buying it when it's released, but I'm hoping it will be much more reasonably priced than e6.

I sure hope that this thread does not become a discussion on pricing... Perhaps if people feel strongly about having a discussion on what sim software pricing should be, they could perhaps start a new discussion topic (please).

I agree with Dax. Start a new thread on simulator software pricing if needed. This has been discussed at length in the past. If so one should discuss all sim pricing including GC2 software prices, About golf software prices, HD sim software prices even Optishot software prices.

Will courses made using the editor from the PC version work with the simulator version?

Not sure how it will work with ST but with what we have now if you design a course using the PC version of the game you will have to wait until Dennis/Protee mirrors the site before it is available for play on the sim. If you design it using the sim version it will be available for play as soon as you publish it. I design them using the PC version then save them to a disk and take them to my simulator and publish them using the sim version. I would be very surprised if it is any different for the ST.

$1000 I would be happy with if ended up been £650 which I can't see happening.

Be nice to see Skytrak do something like the game improvement and maybe do the simulator at an annual fee or monthly.

I have been testing Skytrak and TGC and it is very, very impressive. All shots including chipping and putting work great. Connection is easy and flaweless. Be patient, it will come but there are more testing and finalization to occur before its released. Give me a couple of weeks to get more info.
This is amazing news thanks bubba. I wouldn't be surprised at all if TGC is released before E6 and WGT. Seems like HB works in supersonic speeds releasing updates very frequently. This is amazing news for skytrak owners and I bet we are gonna be seeing a lot more GC2 popping up on eBay for around $3000 in the near future.

Fantastic news, and $999 would be nice day 1 purchase.

                        Protee,

Will Skytrack integrate with the Protee sensor, to provide both club and ball data?

Maybe with any luck, "taking care of the early adopters" regarding the game improvement package will mean something like, "here: enjoy your $50 copy of tgc and thanks for supporting us in our infancy!" (One can dream)
