  • SkyTrak and The Golf Club (TGC) Simulation Software

Hi Seth. I'm new to this forum but have been reading as much as I can about SkyTrak on this and other forums. It seems that many experienced sim users think that The Golf Club game is the best simulator software out there right now. In fact, if I'm understanding and remembering things correctly, Bubba22 and Zmax were instrumental (please correct me if I'm wrong) in getting ProTee to integrate their sim hardware (and gc2) with The Golf Club software. So my question to you/SkyTrak is simply this: Has there been any thought to integrating SkyTrak with The Golf Club? And if so, what are the odds that this might happen? And if so, when?

I work in IT but not in development. I see projects miss their mark time and time again. I'm really hoping this delay is just to make it awesome from the start, as opposed to a serious issue that has yet to be overcome. At this point I'm hoping that by winter I'll be using a sim with the skytrak, since the last official word we heard I believe was first quarter.

Yes I shared the same hope. Joined this forum just looking forward to any sim integration for ST

As I said, I am testing Skytrak with E6, TGC and Perfect Golf. They are working great and we getting minor tweaks. TGC is ready to go. Skygolf is going through the final testing however I am not sure when it will be released. Will try to get more info.

Thanks Bubba, at this point I am fine as long as it comes out before the snow flies this next winter. Any idea on what the setup will be? for example will you have to download it from steam and run it on a laptop, and if so what are the minimum requirements? how does the skytrak hook up to the system?

            Thanks in advance.

Skytrak hooks up via USB. TGC is stand alone software with integration program. It's the best of them all. perfect golf works via USB and through Steam. They still have some game play issues with putting, chipping etc. E6 had no putting yet.

Do we think that SkyTrak will wait until all these sims are ready before releasing them together or is it likely that TGC will be available first?

Can you discus further the part about "stand alone software with integration program"? I assumed that TGC would be it's own software package running off of a PC or a Mac. Are you saying it is it's own separate piece of equipment?

It is it's own software (simulation software) with another piece of software (included) that's specific to the brand of hardware you're trying to integrate.

Ie...TGC's Skytrak integration software + TGC software = you playing TGC with your Skytrak

That's what I was thinking. Now, considering that people can buy the console version of this game for $50, anything more than $200 one time for this package and it will be clear that the simulation companies are out of touch with reality.

If you're feeling a little taken by the SPECULATED cost of TGC for sim use, I would suggest you buy the console version. Ownership of a simulator is not complicated. You can either be happy with what you have or you can keep improving on what you have. Anything you do is not cheap. Faster computers are the biggest rip off. A better projector is the next. The list goes on and on right down to the tee you use. Every improvement cost a little more than what you paid for the lesser version you had. But every improvement adds to overall enjoyment. TGC was designed for PC and console use. So was the Red Chain software in use by a lot of other companies. With Red Chain, sim owners paid (with some sims) as much as $800- $1000 for 4-6 additional courses and there was roughly 106 available. When I got TGC it had 20k courses I could play now it has 56k. How many do you get with E6? How many do you get with Perfect Golf? Every time TGC has an update those are not just transferred to the sim side automatically. Work has to be done. Testing has to take place. Some one has to pay for all that. Would you rather pay $50 now and then $10 every time you wanted an update? Most updates are required to be downloaded in order for the game to function properly. In 2 years you would have paid more than $200. And as long as you own sim/TGC you will receive them as far as I know. Or would you rather pay a monthly fee to use a software package. How much would you pay for additional course packs that did not even allow you to choose what course you wanted? And how many other companies allow you to build your home course or any course you choose? You do have choices here. I am not sure a lot of you folks here understand what you're getting. At this point the price is all just speculation. I don't understand why a lot of folks are beating this to death before it is even announced?

Hoosierdaddy has just summed it up. The sim version is not just the pc or console version. There is more to it than just that. I have no idea what the cost will be.

I am hoping they will release them as they are ready. TGC is ready in my opinion.

Regardless of when the Sims will be released are you at liberty to rank them? I know TGC seems to be on everyone's radar but how does PP stack up against it as a Sim? Trugolf? Etc?

                              TGC
                              Perfect Golf
                              E6

I would rank E6 higher once they add chipping and putting. PP needs some work to become a simulators software. There are issues with its chipping and putting but at least it works.
