Hi Seth. I'm new to this forum but have been reading as much as I can about SkyTrak on this and other forums. It seems that many experienced sim users think that The Golf Club game is the best simulator software out there right now. In fact, if I'm understanding and remembering things correctly, Bubba22 and Zmax were instrumental (please correct me if I'm wrong) in getting ProTee to integrate their sim hardware (and gc2) with The Golf Club software. So my question to you/SkyTrak is simply this: Has there been any thought to integrating SkyTrak with The Golf Club? And if so, what are the odds that this might happen? And if so, when?

Completely agree with the desire to move to gc2 or perhpas even flighscope. The issue is I feel like such a moron for buying the skytrak and selling it so soon after at a steep discount. If and this is a big if, skytrak and tgc or e6 ever get their act together we might have a great sim product for a very good price. If I thought gc2 with tcg was materially better than a future skytrak/tcg or skytrak/e6 - I'd spend the C$10k on gc2 right now.
-
So then buy a GC2. I'll give you number for a dealer. You can have one in 72 hours. If you have the money, then buy it.
I think even par2pro will waive the SDK Fee. So $6,600US - approx $10K CDN.
-
Again - I would buy gc2 now if I became convinced that a) skytrak would not have a viable sim option in the medium term or b) skytrak's sim option would be weak relative to gc2's sim options. Having money and being willing to spend money unnecessarily are two very different things.

Happy New year everybody. Sorry i'm a little late. SkyTrak_Seth, Seth do you think you could start the New year with some tgc news or any sim update for that matter? At this point it doesn't even matter if it's good or bad news. Anything would be nice.

Yea second this. I see you're responding in the other thread about tgc reviews, why no response on this? No disrespect intended here, just curious and a little restless as the rest. Just seems like this question is being avoided like a plague hahaOriginally posted by Sascha1818 View Post@ protee, do you have any Info for us how the skytrak intigration is going on your side?

I wonder if TGC will be available when they launch ES16 at the end of the month..if so that should cause great embarrassment for Skytrak..maybe the parent company should consider selling Skytrak to a better equipped company

Been trying to convince Seth to get SportTrak to dissolve that disastrous JV w SkyGolf and find a new better marketing/distribution and customer support partner. Like ProTee? They need a portable LM in their portfolio to go w their existing ProTee package and TGC - maybe vertically integrated is the way to go in this LM/sim biz? Anyways just a thought.
Seth, I'll draft a JV or merger agreement for SportTrak and ProTee pro bono if you wish =)

I wonder is the ES16 will be open to use any software and Skytrak is going to be closed to subscription based software. This would explain why Skytrak hasn't released software and how ES16 could be ready to go at launch. Just my guess.Originally posted by Schlueter View PostI wonder if TGC will be available when they launch ES16 at the end of the month..if so that should cause great embarrassment for Skytrak..maybe the parent company should consider selling Skytrak to a better equipped companyMy Courses:

I think your spot on as well.. why though have they not just said this to us..?
They have done it for WGC so it should be fairly simple to do the same for all others unless it's more about who gets what cut of the subscription..
I feel they have waited to long to maximize what they had now with ES16 coming out its going to be big trouble for them.
Maybe Ernest Sports should buy Skytrak label it as mini ES16 and let it be the unit it can be

Difference is WGT is a free app. You pay ST $200/year to allow you to use ST on the free WGT app, and ST probably pays WGT a portion of that.
Using TGC as example, they currently charge $1k one-time for the software and provides customer w a physical security key to prevent pirating. Now ST comes along and wants people to pay let's say $400/year to them thru their website to activate ST to be able to be used on TGC (and presumably will pay TGC a portion of that $400). Now how to get the TGC software given it's not a free app? Charging customers another $1k for the software not going to work. Providing a free copy of the software just for ST probably too costly and compromises TGC's current security/anti-pirating setup.
So ST is trying to do something Foresight and others have been unable to do (i.e., charge for using 3rd party sim on their hardware), and they've been around longer. Ernest Sports is being smart about this and will focus on making money on the hardware and let the software guys make money on their software (like PC makers don't charge you an annuity for using different software on your computer).
Maybe SkyGolf should have priced STs at $3k instead of $2k - but at $3k most customers I think would rather pay $4k for a likely more superior unit in ES16 as well as steer clear of SkyGolf's poor customer service and support. That being said, Japan ST is working by selling units at $2k and that's because Rapsodo's Japanese ST partner is vertically integrated and offer their own sim software so are making $ on both the hardware and the software + packages they sell around it (kinda like ProTee w their ProTee system and TGC).Last edited by doublebogey; 01-07-2016, 02:24 AM.

So with what your saying is Skytrak probably set the price of their unit lower intentionally to get people to buy in which we did and then make additional money on the software..poor execution on that no follow through.. like I said its a great product that OTHER companies could do really well with.. I had such high hopes.. friends of mine that wanted to get one after I showed them mine I told them to wait

I think they do make $ at $2k for the unit. However they just want to make more additional $ on the annual subscription packages like they do w their SkyCaddies.Last edited by doublebogey; 01-07-2016, 05:18 AM.

GIP is $99/yr not $400. Among other things it allows the use of the SDK which is the SIM enabler.
There is not always any further rolling subscription to pay some SIMs are outright purchase others are subscription. See post #80 in the attached link.SkyTrak Game Improvement PackageLast edited by MrHogan; 01-07-2016, 08:20 AM.

I would be VERY surprised if they had that costly of a subscription model. I've always heard they would let you buy TGC for example for a one time fee, and you then would pay the $99 yearly fee for it to work. Maybe it'll be more expensive like $199, but if they were to charge $399/yr for TGC - I would not buy it, and would wait for ernest ES16 to see if they had a better setup. I can deal with $100 yearly fee, even $200, but that is starting to stretch it.

I'd wager that you won't hear a thing till the embargoes are lifted on the 25/26th.
Here would be a good place to bookmark...

Based on my back and forth with sport trak this past week I wouldn't be surprised if it's announced there. It might not be released immediately, but they are definitely testing new builds. I didn't ask anything more specific as I didn't want to push my luck with information gathering. It did come from a source that is pretty high up.

Ever hear the expression "That and 25 cents will buy you a cup of coffee"?, back from the days when coffee cost 25 cents a cup. As in, this information ain't worth a whole lot.
They have either been testing new builds all along, without success obviously, or else not been doing much of anything since there just haven't been any results to pass along to the consumer.
Sorry for the perceived negativity, but maybe we should stop looking at this debacle through rose coloured glasses.

Very true aja, that's what I've been saying for months but keep getting bashed for being honest.
I hope all skytrak users get sim play very soon. Reality is, look at the track record of the people involved. There's a large enough sample size to call BS.
Again, I hope for sim play to announced at PGA and roll out soon after. My fingers are crossed for you guys.
