Hi Seth. I'm new to this forum but have been reading as much as I can about SkyTrak on this and other forums. It seems that many experienced sim users think that The Golf Club game is the best simulator software out there right now. In fact, if I'm understanding and remembering things correctly, Bubba22 and Zmax were instrumental (please correct me if I'm wrong) in getting ProTee to integrate their sim hardware (and gc2) with The Golf Club software. So my question to you/SkyTrak is simply this: Has there been any thought to integrating SkyTrak with The Golf Club? And if so, what are the odds that this might happen? And if so, when?

Hi All,
I just upgraded the firmware in my Skytrak and the Skytrak app on my PC. Does anyone know if I need an upgrade on the TGC interface? Thanks again! Happy St. Patrick's day!!! Hope you're enjoying the man caves, golf sims, and beer!! Maybe in a few hours I guess.... or now too I suppose.. .no judgement from me!

Welcome Lefty. No need to upgrade TGC. The new firmware should work fine with the existing TGC. Hopefully a new TGC padre will be ready soon.Originally posted by Lefty13 View PostHi All,

How much better have you gotten in real-life thanks to the TGC/Skytrak practice??
I never played enough to establish a USGA handicap, but my lifetime scoring average was about 100. I took 5 years off, and then last fall decided to pick golf up again and focus on trying to improve. I bought a skytrak for practice.
After a few months of just using Skytrak range (and occasional round on E6 demo), I started shooting low 90's. Had a 91, and a few 93's over the winter. But I also had some high rounds...97s and 98s.
The last few weeks I have played many rounds with TGC. I find it a much better way to practice than just using the range by itself. Chipping, and shots that require less than 100% swing are things I never practiced on the Skytrak range. Having both the ability to hit balls at the Skytrak range, and great sim software is really ideal. I generally warm-up at the range, and work on my weak clubs (for me driver and 3 wood). Then play a few rounds on TGC.
I went out and played 36 holes yesterday (at Lanier GC north of ATL). Shot the 2 best rounds of my life, 89 / 89. My first sub-90 rounds ever from blue-tees.
Highlights:
- 30 foot birdie putt
- 20 foot chip-in for par
- tons of green-side chips that ended very close to the hole (this was the biggest improvement..due to all the chips I hit in TGC).
- reached front fringe in 2 on a par 5, after a 280y drive and a 210y 3 hybrid
- Was +2 after 8 holes..needing only a bogey on 9 to shoot a 39 (my lowest 9 ever is 43). Shot a snowman, for a 42 (still my best 9 ever)
- hit 14 fairways and 11 greens, way better than my average
- Hit an elevated, sand-protected green with a 175y 5-iron. And had total confidence that I could hit it (cause I do that all day in TGC)
- Had 72 total putts for 36 holes..which is decent for me. Greens were not in great shape, slow and bumpy.
- Used one golf ball for all 36 holes!
Lowlights:
- 4-putt from 50 feet on a par 3 (really reminded me of TGC)
- quad bogey on #9 to mess up my chance for a 9 hole score of 38/39.
- missed a couple 5-10 foot birdie putts by tiny amounts
Without a doubt, TGC and Skytrak have improved my game by a large margin. I have played more golf in my garage in the last 6 months than I have played in my entire life, and its good to see that my game in real life is getting better.

Good work Shardak. Hitting 14 fairways and 11 GIR's with a little improvement putting I would surprised if you don't shoot sub 80 this year.

Nice work. Why did you put your biggest accomplishment last? I'm a 12 handicap and can confidently say I've never played 36 straight with the same ball.

There seems to be a lack of videos of Skytrak and TGC together so I thought I add a short one. The Amen Corner videos have been done to death but it's the easiest and quickest ways to showcase it. Here I am playing Ks-man's ghost ball at Magnolia. Couple of bad swings but got really lucky bounces. The delay with me for TGC is about a second longer than the Skytrak app and E6. I'm assuming that has to do with it being much more graphics intensive. I'm sure the faster GPU's provide better results. I have a budget rig and will list my specs below. I think it looks and plays great. I rarely drop below 50 fps.

Just played Spirit Mountain. Nice course but the course rating and slope are way off and now it's messed up my handicap. The rating is 58 and slope is 46. That's like a putt putt course. I didn't shoot well but my handicap index for that course is 106! Needless to say the 106 handicap is messing with my handicap index quite a bit since I have only played 6 rounds. I should play some tournaments now!!!!!! Joking aside, is there a way to remove this from my handicap or correct the slope and rating for the course?

I am having an issue I have not seen addressed as of yet and was wondering if anyone else has/had this issue and if there is a fix. After tinkering with display settings, I have found that I get the most coverage on my screen if I run the game in 1280x1024 in full-screen mode (I have a 8'x10' sized impact screen). The issue is that if I need to exit full screen for some reason (skytrak disconnect being the main one) I can't get the game to go back into full screen mode, and I can't expand the windowed mode to have it fit the screen again. Does anyone know of a way to address this?
