  • SkyTrak Misreads Have Become Consistent

I've been successfully using my SkyTrak for two seasons now, and with much greater frequency this past season, including a laptop replacement along the way (to Windows 11), and a Wi-Fi upgrade, followed by a full Wi-Fi replacement.
I've become rather addicted to it, apparently, because I seem to be going through withdrawal symptoms since it recently stopped reading shots.
Occasional misreads in the past typically exhibited the top LED turning red temporarily, followed by nothing in the simulation.
But now all three LEDs remain green, and nothing happens, for every shot.
I've tried all the usual suggestions I've run across so far (cleaning, etc.), EXCEPT for the idea of blacking out the area behind where I'm standing while hitting. I've never had to do that in the past, but I've got a cheap experiment cooked up by just hanging a black sheet for now.
I've been hitting the same balls I play on real courses, with no alterations: Bridgestone Tour B RX Yellow
There are probably many threads here like this (I've posted here just once in the past). Maybe someone can point me to an existing comprehensive checklist to study.

Looks like a laser curtain malfunction. Try switching to left-handed, rotate the skytrak 180 degrees (the unit will be between you and the ball) and make a few hits. If the unit's sensing, you'll probably have to have the unit repaired.

      That worked! Wow!
I suppose I can just use it like that until I find out how much such a repair would cost. I'm not covered in any way.
      Thank you!

I see just one screw on the bottom (instructions mention two; see photo) and the back doesn't seem to be sliding off.

I'd guess its under that warranty label....not at home now so I cant check

I attempted swapping the laser curtains but inadvertently bent one of the pins on the main circuit board when putting it back together.
I couldn't seem to rectify this myself, so I ended up sending it in for repairs.
Just got t back today and a quick test shows it's working fine now.

Lucky. And yes, it is an easy switch, but as you can see, things can and do go wrong. I think most people find that it ends up costing under $200, so I think it is best to just send it in. This way it is back to full functioning Skytrak.

And semantic nitpick, you meant no-read, not misread.

I'm having a similar issue with significant no reads out of thin air after successful use for a few years. Have also tried all the usual suggestions with success. You mentioned the 3 green lights would stay green and nothing happens. For me, the top one turns red like it's thinking then nothing happens. Im getting no reads on 5-7 of 10 shots. Any thoughts?

Yeah, the 3 green lights staying green seemed to indicate a complete hardware failure of the laser curtain, whereas what you're seeing still happens to me on occasion, like you say, when it seemingly thinks about it momentarily when it hasn't captured quite enough info to produce a simulation. For me it seems to happen with clubs that have a lower trajectory, such as my 5W or 4h (I don't have enough ceiling height to hit Driver). I can't remember if mine started to do what yours is doing more frequently prior to a complete failure or not. Seems like it might have, but it's been a while. Because that's new to you, a complete failure might be imminent, or something else changed.
In my case, I have quite a mess in my garage behind where I stand, so my SkyTrak has a messy background to deal with. I want to eliminate that as a factor and now intend to clean that area up and paint that wall a dark color.
        Working...
