I've seen the other posts regarding this topic and followed their recommendations. There is one friend who plays regularly in the sim (e6 Connect) who has frequent missed hits. The rest of us have no problem with the higher lofted wedges...he is the only one. Only about 20% of his 55 deg or higher wedges will register a shot. All lights remain green. I have a dark background, moderate light on the ball, logo towards the LM. Nothing out of the ordinary with the club, shoes, or ball. The LM is aligned perfectly including level with the hitting mat . Tried placing the ball 1" closer to screen and even a bit closer to LM. I do use a FMJ but, again, the rest of us (maybe 8-10 players total) have no issues with 55 deg or higher wedges. Any ideas I can check out that might be affecting this one player? Thanks! -Jim
Lob wedge not registering

Does the light blink or register the shot? Is it a real shiny chrome finish?
Meant to add to try playing with the ball light positioning a bit more (ahead of dot, closer to unit) eventually u might find a spot it likes

Lights stay green so not registering at all. He does have a steel (shiny) shaft while I believe the rest of us have composite (senior) shafts that are various colors. I'll check to see if the head is "chrome" shiny. Are you aware of shiny high lofted wedges having this problem? Thanks!

I've had a similar issue with my lob wedges and they're Taylor Mades with the black heads. Steel shaft, but I don't think that's the issue either. My guess has been that the ball launches too high out of the camera shot too fast. So that's why being ahead of the dot might help.

Like Leo said, it likely is just launching the ball high real quick & isn't capturing it. Does he hit high shots usually? I only mentioned a chrome or shiny finish because my father had a real shiny mirror finished RTX3 or 4, SW & LW that just wouldn't get the laser light to trigger for either, once he switched to a black MD4 finish, the problem vanished completely. My wedges are raw or matte & haven't ever had an issue. Just wondering if maybe the chrome reflected the light back & confused the skytrak into not triggering like laser pointer in a mirror

As others have said, the ball might be launching too high and the unit isn't capturing the shot. Try placing the ball 1-2 inches in front of the laser dot. If you are using the protective case, make sure the unit is the same level as the hitting surface.

Considering the shiny club might be a problem, I replaced the small desk lamp that was behind and above the LM about 3 ft away (and shining on the ball) with an overhead diffused light. My friend was successful with the first few lob wedge shots and then had a couple of no-reads. A definite improvement but problem still not completely solved. He moved the ball forward about an inch of the laser dot. A couple of no-reads for the remaining 14 holes. Since we had tried moving the ball forward previously with no significant improvement, I assume that it was a combination of the light shining directly on the chrome club AND the ball position. Read launch angles were around 41 deg. Not positive but I believe the screen (net) side of the ball can't be more than 2 inches from the dot since I think that is where the IR curtain is to trigger the camera. Again, the other three of us rarely get a no-read during an entire round. Thanks for everyone's input. -Jim

Different people can hit wedges at very different VLAs, so it is quite possible that this one user just hits it very high.- move forward 1 inch, maybe a touch more. Some have recommended 2 inches or more, but you are getting really close to the laser curtain if you do that.
- some have had success also going a bit closer to Skytrak ... one inch or so. Or try the opposite, away one inch.
- you can raise Skytrak a touch ... as long as woods still read perfectly, no harm.
- this is very anecdotal, but there was a scientifically oriented user who insists that lofted read better if there is a bright light on the ball. Normally, I'd dismiss that to coincident, but he was very thorough, so there could be something to it. I know that Skytrak doesn't need external light source, but it could do something indirectly.
- I rarely turn the logo of ball towards unit, but for lofted shots, it does seem to help with reading spin, probably because of partial ball capture.
