Wasn't expecting that price point....Wow. Pretty sure I've just changed from a mini to this at the end of the season. Needs a FMJ though for my son and his buddies just in case. I'll trade face to path for AOA, but was really hoping for AOA for driver practice. Bring on the reviews !!!

Yeah, I wasn't expecting much. Guess I'm not surprised.Originally posted by gbode123 View Post$510 for a fully functional Skytrak. That's not a generous trade-in offer.

I was just trying to get on the site and check out the upgrade feature and the site is crashing. Online chat says it's getting too much activity and returns a web site error. "Uncaught (in promise): Error: NG04002 Error: NG04002 at MK.noMatchError (https://apps.golfstixvalueguide.com/tradewidget/main.996c519f68." Online chat says wait and try later.

This launch doesn't seem very well thought out... Generous trade in offer of $500 is an insult. It's also 3k without a subscription and I doubt a basic subscription will give all the new data so expect to spend a lot yearly. How can you offer something for preorder without having the subscriptions and pricing available?
The shot delay also has not been improved according to the video above. Why would someone buy this product when there are well established products on the market for a similar price. People bought the original Skytrak as it was the one of the cheapest monitors that provided accurate data. They are no longer going to be the cheapest with a Skytrak 2 and it doesn't seem to offer much of a benefit to buy over other established monitors.
This is a new product and who knows how many issues it will have at launch. Golftec server migration did nothing to install confidence that the Skytrak 2 launch will go smoothly.Last edited by l40niners1; 05-04-2023, 05:06 PM.

Maybe, maybe not. Depends on what the price is for subscriptions.
For years people seemed to agree that an extra $1k was a good price to add club data. If they don't gouge on subscriptions (like the others) then I think this is a solid update.
-
They do post the cost for current subscriptions. 99$ and 199$. These subscriptions are the same as currently offered. But they do indicate that additional subscriptions will be available. I would assume some of these new offerings will be in coordination with golftec offerings. But we will see.
This new version is for people who like the current system but would like to pay more for club data and a few refinements.

HI everyone
I don't think this unit is worth 3K, in my view it should just replace the old skytrak at the same price of 1999.
The club data is using machine learning to make the data accurate.
They could just add this machine learning to the old skytrak and give pretty accurate results for the home user.
The old unit should be retired and this unit should replace it at the old price given todays market.
Garmin or some other competitor will blow this thing away pretty quickly i feel.
I don't think this product will last as long in the market as the skytrak 1 did, last 3 years maybe, for 3K???

Yes, that is stating the obvious, but read what they wrote again.
Doppler gets the club data but machine learning is used to make it accurate, so i don't think the radars read as well as they should, probably because the unit sits side-on not behind the user.
Go check, read what they wrote carefully.
-
Furthermore, I'm not seeing anywhere that the club data is measured on every shot. Perhaps the stated "machine learning" data is another word for calculated data, AKA not measured like multiple other units on market.
-
Exactly swing+amiss, that's why i think its not worth 3k.
Users want an eye mini at 3k, not something that apprears to be an eye mini at 3k.
Other manufacturers will probably use machine learning to release units for 500 bucks soon, and they will be pretty accurate, so why throw away 3k?

Looks like the same old stupid subscriptions again that caused people to turn away from Skytrak in the first place. Have they learned nothing. Stating Rapsodo but not clear if thy are involved or maybe this is just because they still hold joint copyright on the logic/techniques still used from the old Skytrak. If they are involved hope they do not hold back data like their MLM2PRO unless subscriptions taken. Also no free access to a couple of courses like other more recent systems e.g. mevo +
What is included and what is extra is not completely clear:
1. Quote "Starting with our Game Improvement Package, you’ll get the ability to practice on a driving range" does this mean you have to pay subscription for a driving range!!
2. Shot Optimizer - is this part of the Game improver package.
I fully agree with others, they need to make it clear. I am starting to get the feeling this is not going to be good. These heavy subscriptions for the actual units themselves is a big turn off for me and other. The amount of free spending money people have these days is at an all time low, no one wants to be continually paying subscriptions to use a product they have bought.

trhuke you may want to reach out to Skytrak about that as the rep I chatted with said you need at minimum the game improvement plan to get the new club data. However, the rep didn't seem super confident in his replies... This means the free range would only give you what the current Skytrak does. This makes it seem at minimum you'd need the $100 subscription or it'd be pointless to upgrade

Looks like once again you have to buy a special protection case (milking money again, why is it not automatically protected!!): See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4arhDfhtYts
