Trade in will be interesting. Resale is still high but they obviously can’t take a bath on the change over.
As an 8 year owner of one, I’ll sign up if the price is right.

as a general statement, what are the “improvements” the group here has asked for?

A few things to think about:

I'm curious how they're going to make themselves set apart from the flooded competition, which thankfully is so much more than when v1 came out in '14.

Once released, I fully intend on making a full launch monitor comparison chart including front-mount ceiling, rear-mount ceiling, floor mount monitors, club data, ball data, required stickers, required subscriptions, purchase price, compatible software vs onboard software, and anything else I can find.

            • more accurate horizontal launch angle
            • better field of view - vertical and lengthwise

Still have to wait an eternity for shot registration or did they improve that as well?

My guess is that it is closer to Quad than original Skytrak. If definitely has the ability to read & measure club data, and will probably have the same metric as the Quad, possibly without stickers. If accurate club data, this will be a huge hit. If not, then it will be competing with GC3/BLP. It sounds as if they did away with the timed strobe method, and are going with camera pairs (one high res low frame rate, and one low res, high frame rate). High frame rate is relative, and likely 240 fps, which is peanuts compared to BLP/GC3/Quad.

Nice video. But he knows about as much as I do about what is coming. Which is nothing.

In a thread back in June 2021, a user named Nicholasbufano posted a link to a new Skytrak patent. Here is a link to the original thread:

NEW Skytrak 3D Launch Moniter 2021 Prediction - Golf Simulator Forum

And here is a link directly to the patent. If this is the new unit, it would appear to use both cameras and radar to capture both ball and club data. If so, it will likely be more much more expensive than the price point for the existing Skytrak. That may help explain the trade in program that has been teased.

US20200282283A1 - Measurement and reconstruction of the golf launching scene in 3D - Google Patents

If nothing else, this information will help kill time while we wait for the release of the new unit, which may or may not have anything to do with the above information. But it is intriguing.

Interesting - clubpath, face to path, face to target - of course assuming they are measured without some sort of additional aid gives this a leg up on the EyeMini and the GC3. If this product comes in at 5k or less, this could be really interesting and dare I say it - game changer? Click image for larger version

160y nine iron. Ooof. A game changer indeed.
Just imagining what the rest is my bag could look like.

                      Probably a 9i with 7i loft.

                    That’s a good number for a 115mph club.
I’m interested, but not at more than current prices.
If they want to sell me a competitor to a 5k machine I ain’t the client.
If they can reach up the tech stack and deliver the same quality at >2.5k then that is the Skytrak price point I can do.

Agree big time. Needs to be same price point or even lower given technology advances. Given target home market they would be stupid to change target to the price of the more expensive units used by professionals. Their success has been at this price point and the home market. They also need to beat the mevo + and the new MLM2Pro. No stupid subscriptions also needed to get extra data.

It'd be nice if that was the price point. With the trade in option though....maybe a hint of a higher price.

Yes, it will have AoA ... and face. All the club data. It is closer to Quad than Skytrak OG, based on metrics it measures.

I asked the SkyTrak folks about a TGC2019 lifetime subscription carrying over to the new unit, they said it was too early to say.

                    Just FYI.

With the Skytrak+ measuring club data, I would think it would be perfect with TGC since the software already shows the club data via measurements
