UK purchase

Finally decided to pull the trigger on a skytrak , and as I work with a guy who lives stateside I am shipping it to his address then will grab it from him at work. Works out at ♦£1200 with GI package - money saved against UK purchase can go on something else .

I'm guessing this is a demo unit at that price? To be fair they are definitely worth getting at that sort of price, especially if your not having to pay any shipping or import/VAT. When I costed out full price, unit@$2094 + shipping at around $100 was £1425, plus any duty that ya may catch, hopefully only around £75, but could be up to £180 if valued at full duty, I was working at £1500 - £1600 for an import as opposed to £1770 for a UK.

If things were further along in terms of SIM options etc then I too would've prob gone import, ( I so nearly did) especially at that £1500 figure, but for you at £1200 think you've done well. Once things are further along will have to decide again, may be heading stateside before Xmas so if I do will look into if possible just to buy one whilst Im there ( do they sell them in retail stores?) if the Sim options and pricing are all in place by then.

Cheers, yes it was a ex demo model - I've been undecided and tossing figures around for a while then they announced UK pricing and I almost pre ordered one, to be honest if the sim options were on the table I would have probably just bought one here but anyway pleased with the deal I did , hopefully will get my hands on it end of the month .

I dont know how much of the difference is down to skytrak, down to the retailers here, or down the revenue charges though but the saving could pay for an ipad, or go towards a projector or impact screen etc...

Hopefully they'll have a discount for pre-orders on their site though, similar to what they got in the US to overcome this problem.

Unfortunately the discount will be in your dreams only. Just did an on-line chat with SkyTrak and there will be no discount in the UK. They previously promised a discount for European customers when I asked at the time they were about to launch in the US, but they seem to have renaged on that promise. Well I guess that is par for the course in Europe :-(

Not going to rush into buying one now until they sort out their Simulator software and the PC application.

Cant see why the annual subscriptions are not just done in US dollars, as works out £14 a year more than US equivalent for GI and obviously £28 a year more than US for P&I

Think the skytrak/skycaddie people need to review their exchange rates

Good old UK VAT included @ 20% versus Sales Tax in the US at anywhere between 0 and 8% (ish), and added on to the purchase price, rather than included... ?

get a credit card that doesn't charge for currency conversions neither.

Am I missing something? $200 vs £159 is not massively different, surely? Its not the £'s for $'s we normally have with a lot of stuff.

I think it is also sales tax ! US , depends on the state, is in the single digit % and Europe is around 20 %

My demo unit I managed to get over from the US turned up yesterday , took it to the range and very impressed. Very accurate readings from what I was seeing down range and that was just plonked down on the mat without checking levels etc. Very pleased

I do that too, after I go through my bag and hit my clubs I want to work on, I then play the closest to the pin. I never did try WGT at the range though.

Would be interested to know how many UK users there are out there, i'd imagine there's a few of us, even currently, and this will expand come November.
