I like the zoysia fairway mat, a very thick no shock mat that you can hit down on, after the ball of course. 4x5 for 275. http://www.duraprogolfmats.com/Dura-...ange-Mats.html

Trying to find a topic on this, but has anyone used any of the mats that simulate a bunker shot? I am thinking about getting something like that to use with WGT, but not sure how well they work? Any thoughts?

I have the Ultimate Monster mat. Is this really a problem? Of course a fat shot will catch and slow down, but I like that feedback. On a proper strike, the ball is gone before the club touches the mat, correct?

I dont know if he is right or wrong, but I also have the Monster Tee mat and my iron shots average 10-20 yards short in Skytrak.

For example, my 9-iron in real life carries about 120. I hit 123 9-iron shots yesterday in the Skytrak driving range, and the average was 105 yards carry.

Drivers or anything hit off a tee read very close to my real-life, outside, distances.

Based on this, I ordered the Country Club Elite mat from amazon yesterday.

That's weird, I have the monster tee as well and have been very satisfied with my distances and accuracy. Maybe just the result of different people's swings, who knows

I would save your money, these are not like the real thing. Also if you have a camera based launch monitor you would have to keep moving the monitor. I think it is just impractical.

I purchased the Commercial Grade Driving Range mat from AllTurfMats. I like hitting off it way more than the Monster Tee Turf I had and ended up selling. It is still thick and padded well, but just not as thick as the Monster Tee Turf. This feels more like hitting off a fairway. I bought two of the 5 ft x 5 ft mats.

I also had an issue with the mat sliding and moving on me after hitting multiple shots. I ended up securing it to the concrete floor with 3/8" thick concrete screws. Now it doesn't move and I can align the Skytrak at the beginning and not worry that my alignment is off when I mark the 2nd laser dot for alignment. This is crucial especially for the putting.

I got my Country Club Elite 4x5 mat today, I am comparing it to the same size Monster Tee.

The monster tee is very soft and spongy. I have found that the turf really grabs the club head and slows it down violently.

The country club elite is thicker overall (2 inches thick compare to 1.5 inches for the Monster Tee). However the turf is much thinner. There is only about 0.5 inches of turf. Its backed by a thick foam mat. It feels very firm to stand on. No sponginess at all.

Overall I much prefer the feel of the Country Club elite. The club moves through the turf much easier, and it feels more like hitting off of a fairway. Since the turf is very thin and firm, the club doesnt penetrate as deep into it, and feels more "real" than the Monster turf. You still get enough of a divot feeling even though the turf is firm.

Short chips are much too easy to hit on the Monster turf as well. Since the turf is so spongy, you can easily get a slower moving club head under the ball in an un-realistic way. It doesnt provide the bounce that hitting outside provides. The Country Club elite simulates the feel of real ground much better.

Whether or not any of this affects Skytrak readings, not sure yet. I doubt it changes much on properly hit balls, since you are striking ball first, then turf. But it certainly doesn't feel very good in my wrists and arms when the Monster turf grabs the clubhead. Also the sponginess does make me feel a bit unstable during the swing. The nice firm CC elite feels better to stand and swing on.

The big issue with Country Club Elite is the price. I cannot believe these things cost so much. But I will say there is enough of an improvement that I will be keeping it. I think that the cheaper "Commercial Grade Driving range Mat" from all-turf mats (listed in the previous post), would also be good. I think thinner turf will just feel more real than the super thick and spongy Monster Turf. Wish I had bought the Commercial Grade mat first, I may have saved a pile of cash! The all-turf mat looks very very similar to the Country Club elite for less than half the price.

I just purchased the monster tee 4x5 mat. I also purchased the 'Tee Up Turf' hitting mat - (http://www.par2pro.com/shop/product_...roducts_id=207).

I cutout a hole for the Tee Up Turf in the monster mat, and it works pretty well. I definitely like the 'Tee Up Turf'.

Unfortunately I agree that the monster turf is too spongy and doesn't give a great feel while standing on it. I should have gone with the commercial mat mentioned.

In any case, this will work for the winter.

Just an alternative to those not wanting to spend crazy money on the full size Country Club Elite... I bought the 10" X 30" Country Club Elite hitting strip and placed it in a previously built stance platform I had made for my Optishot. You can make the stance platform for around $50 using foam board and particle board. The CCE hitting strip was around $40 shipped on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o04_s00

How did it fit in comparison to the cutout you had previously made for you optishot, I see optipad dimension down as 10.2 x 15.4. Did you find it left a gap down the sides and did you expand the hole or cut down the strip?

I had to make the cutout bigger in the platform. I don't intend on using my Optishot anymore so I didn't really mind. The CCE strip isn't as deep as the Optishot, so I used some scrap foam board from previously building the platform in order to make it flush. I'll take some pictures tonight when I get home from work.

Cheers mate, just ordered one and planning on making them interchangeable hopefully.. Still doing the OptiTour this year, and will pull the trigger on ST once i see what PG/TGC brings and which is the best. Glad I didnt buy US now as it turns out, far too many people having to return units for my liking right now, so waiting on UK launch and the associated warranty/returns process. Will hopefully get one pre Xmas but I said that last year

I cut my cce strip to the same size as my opti and p3 so they are all interchangeable. Opti and p3 have the jagman joe cover so they are wider and taller so I use foam pad to raise it up as well.
