This is great but i'm a little worried about my initial game improvement package purchase. I was on of the first orders (pre ordered October of last year) and included the game improvement package. No where was it listed as a subscription and I also had this confirmed through an online chat with a skytrak rep that it was a one time fee. Reading this I don't know what to make of it or why I was sold something under false pretense. I'm a huge skytrak fan but this worries me.

Not sure if anyone noticed since all of you seam to have the GI package.
if you upgrade to the v2.0 app then most of the functions we have today will disappear unless you pay 100$/year.
E.g. No shot data list and no way to set temperature and wind etc. So basically the range with only 1 camera angle and that's it. (Probably the useless default camera angle)
Even Foresight that in this context can be regarded as the benchmark for unreasonable pricing has a 50$ app that will give you a reasonable fitting tool.
Sad.
100$/year for 10 courses WGT that is borderline reasonable considering we did not pay them 2k$ for the LM.
Anybody wants to buy a Skytrak unit including a shank proof enclosure, drop me a PM.

How do you know that if v2.0 isn't out? Or is it? I didn't see it on iTunes

Because the web page that is up clearly shows what is free and what is included in the GI package.
It has always been clear that the challenges and sim play will be part of the GI package, but the camera angles, shot data list and environment settings. That is taking the greed 1step too far.

Well your just assuming v2.0 will do this?
I agree with you spending $100 a year to hit off a virtual driving range is insane.
Spending another $100 a year to play WGT, please. I was extremely exited when the Beta was available. Played it the first 3 days and haven't touched it since. Would much rather pay more money for TGC or E6.

Well OK I agree it's an assumption since none of us has seen it yet.
But would you rate it as a reasonable assumption considering the sim PLAY and WGT will be supported in v2.0?
It's not like they will release all this like before where all GI subscribers have the same functionality like the rest of us that where smart enough to not pay for it.

I highly doubt that the SkyTrak_Seth team would *remove* features from the base version - that would honestly be shady business practices. I think that the pricing/feature list is something in the works and due to be figured out.

The detailed description on the Web page that is available is 100% clear on what the different packages will contain.
I must say I am a bit surprised that I seam to be the only one that believes what we all can read on the Sky golf official Web site.

I will be really disappointed if what is published holds true. To have to pay $100 every year for some range features is pretty crappy. I can see an up charge if you want to have all the challenges, but the others should be standard.

The Game Improvement Package for $100 was for the challenges (closest to pin and the other target game). But my understanding was if you didn't get the Game Improvement package you would not get these extra challenges, but would still have the standard driving range. So if you just want a driving range I think everyone should still be fine without worrying. But if you want to participate in the new WGT packages it looks like it will require both the $100 GI package and $100 for WGT course play. That's understandable and both parties need to get their cut. Really $200 a year is nothing to complain about. That's $16 a month. Everyone should really be happy about their pricing structure. Skytrak and WGT seems to be one of the most affordable golf simulator solutions out! (or almost out..haha!). But don't get me wrong, I am definitely looking at getting TGC.

Yes, the pricing is concerning for me as well. I compared the feature comparison on the new WGT page with the current store page (attached) and it does appear at least one feature from the basic package is removed:
* Numeric Display
I knew the games (ex. Closest to Pin) were outside of the basic package, these additional features are in the GIP which I wasn't aware and had mistakenly assumed were in the base free package:
* Session History
* Target Practice
* Environmental Controls
* Multiple Camera Angles
This is the one feature I can't determine. Assumed this was basic as well:
* Multi Color Shot Tracers
Additionally, while I could live without the 360 access, I would no longer have a way to copy, export or save the data outside of Skytrak, which would be frustrating.
I'll cross fingers and hold out for the official release, but I always assumed I'd still have good value in the unit without a subscription if I chose. I despise yearly fees and would gladly pay upfront to avoid entirely.1 Photo

SkyTrak definitely sold us the Game Improvement Package "under false pretense" per Smacc. I was not one of the super early adopters but in February I had called and chatted with SkyGolf reps directly and 'specifically' asked if the $99 for Game Improvement Package was a one-time or annual fee and was 'specifically' told it was a one-time fee before I purchased my SkyTrak in April. And in fact as recently as May the Game Improvement Package was still shown on SkyGolf's website as $99 (not $99 annual fee). So I believe SkyTrak/SkyGolf not only need to compensate early buyers of the Game Improvement Package for the lack of extra features (plus non-functioning sync) we got for paying the $99 but they must also compensate us for having sold the package to us under false pretences with wrong information from its reps which we used to make our purchase decisions.Originally posted by Smacc View PostThis is great but i'm a little worried about my initial game improvement package purchase.
