    Skytrak Demo unit driver distance

So I am convinced something is wrong with the demo unit I just purchased. The strongest part of my golf game is definitely driving distance and this doesn't reflect that at all.

From my gamegolf- Driver Ping G30 LST
    252 YDS

I can generally put a few out in the 270-300 range during an 18th hole round. My long drive of the year was a 312 yard bomb. I tend to play tighter wooded courses and it does hurt my average hitting trees here and there.

Based off the hits that feels the best skytrak registers them as 0-1 deg launch and left. I ended up deleting a bunch of them in the beginning and left them in at the last few hit. I hope to get out to the range this week to do a real compare outside.

Any ideas or thought? Its 100% level and equal height with the hitting surface. and I have tried teeing up 2-3 inches back, forward to the right and left. It seems like 6-D is where it get out of whack for me.

    Thanks

Which ones are driver shots? The ones with ball speeds in the 150's I assume are driver shots and they launching at very low angles with little spin. What did you use to make sure it's level?

They are all driver shots from this afternoon. I have hit around 200 driver shots so far. About 1 in 6 never even register a hit.

I have an adjustable platform and a 3 bubble level placed on top of the skytrak its self.

I have a ton of shots using the e6 demo range also with the same results.

My last trackman fitting for my clubs I was averaging around 106 with the driver. And I am generally 40 yards past everyone I play with. I play a few courses that require a 260 yard carry to the green that I can usually make.

I really just want to figure this thing out. Working nights makes it hard to get outside this week so far.

Can't check it here at work but how much affect would it have to say raise the skytrak up a few inches to match a driver tee height. Something I may check out in the morning.

I am not positive but think they recommend skytrak for indoor use. I've used mine at the range on mats that were covered but when I used it on grass with a tee and driver it didn't register many shots. I had to set my bag up where it shades the ball and view of the camera to get better results. Something doesn't seem right with yours, ball speeds are all over the place and launch angles too. Was it that inconsistent when using indoors? And what exactly is a demo unit? One someone returned?

I agree that seems "off." Launch angles, ball speeds, and spin are all over the map. Especially the high and low ball speeds at 116 and 186 mph.

Problem number 1, put your skytrak at the same level as your mat. Don't raise your unit.

Let us know after you've done that.

From very first post by me.

My monster turf mat is just over 1.5 inches. Skytrak is on a 2x4 piece with 4 screws on the bottom to adjust the level. They are dead equal to one another.

well I think unless someone has any ideas I am done with this thing.

I just got home from work and hit 56 more drives. I am constantly getting launches of 0-2 deg even if I hit halfway up the net. Average drive distance total 136 yards............

To get those kind of errors you would have to have a very crooked setup that even a half blind person would see is not OK. So it does sound like there is something wrong with it.
Since you can't calibrate or check the accelerometer, all you can do is return it. That is what I would do.

I have the same driver (G30 LST) and also purchased a demo unit which is showing almost identical (short) hits. I was at a course this past Saturday and measured my distance via Garmin tracker and consistently hit my driver and irons (ping GMAX) 25-30 yards further than what the demo Skytrak is showing. I've tried everything from alignment, tees, different types of golf balls, various irons (cavity back vs blades), height of the unit to the striking surface (using a real feel 4X5), and the unit consistently shows my carry to be 25-30 yards short of what I hit on the Golf course or outdoor range. Understand their are a lot of variables at play here and thought maybe it's my indoor swing but had a few colleagues over who are very consistent in their golf swing and they also came up short on their clubs. Wish I could figure this out but at this point I'm inclined to send the unit back. I'm at a loss on what could be wrong.

You need to contact them and probably send it back. I pre ordered mine and have had it almost a year and have never had any problems. At first I had alignment and leveling issues but since I started using a digital angle finder to level it and made an alignment braces with lines drawn on it that are perfectly square to my mat I have had zero problems. And I very rarely get a shot that has weird numbers.

1.5 does not equal 2 inches.

true, but 2 nominal = 1.5 actual in the land of lumber

true but the wood could be warped. different lengths. i think sticking it on wood just introduces to many factors

I don't think that's the issue here, though. OP says it's level.

2x4 aside(it's level/flat/etc..) Putting it on the mat itself make zero difference. The board just allows me to stand fully and comfortably on the mat. I am 6'4 so I have a wide swing/stance.

                        Exactly a 2x4 is 1.5 inches by 3.5 inches
