  • Skytrak sync problem?

    My skylark was working fine. Then suddenly the software starts hanging up.. Big delays while the ball is in the air. Then it restarts then delays again. I have tried uninstalling the software and reinstalling. Seems like sync never syncs. The interface seems buggy.. I have to tap several times on the screen to go from app to settings. Works fine in direct mode. My internet is very fast so that can't be it. Also works fine with WGT. Problem points to sky golf server maybe???

    If I start the app on the iPad without turning on the skytrak device, the app will sync after a couple minutes, then turn on the skytrak device and the app works smooth no shot pauses

      Ok. My SkyTrak app stuck in perpetual "WAITING TO SYNC..." again. Tried the above but didn't work. Any other hints to get it out of this perpetual "WAITING TO SYNC..."?

      Only thing I did is used Direct Mode for first time in a while at range and since coming home stuck in this perpetual "WAITING TO SYNC..." Such a beta product!

        Try disconnecting your Skytrak, uninstalling the app, and hitting the Skytrak twice with an eight pound sledge? Should eliminate the waiting to sync message.

      I've got exactly the same issue. Have lost 3 sessions from the range now. It was syncing before I went & as soon as it gets back on the home network, it won't sync. It will connect to WGT & will accept new practise session though so it can see the network.

      I've spoken with UK Support who told me to ring US Support ( yeah right!! after spending £1800). Web chatted US Support ( useless!!) who kept saying 3 green lights means it's working.

      Come on Skytrak! Sort the problem!!

        Their supposed syncing feature has never truly worked - and they've been charging people for this for over a year now...

        Now I don't really care about the syncing crap - just wished that the freakin' "WAITING TO SYNC..." would go away (without having to reset unit and uninstall/reinstall app - worse than a beta app) so that at the very least my range sessions don't have balls freezing in mid air coz it's trying to sync!

      Are you on iPad or PC in the UK? What if you just connect to internet in settings, then open the app fresh and let it sit...does it sync then?

      Also, I will look at moving syncing indicators from the main/constant display. I agree.

        Hi, I'm on iPad. No, it never syncs if I just leave it. Tried everything to get it to sync.
        As mentioned, I've lost 3 sessions now from the range because as soon as you force close the app, you lose everything. Have put it on a separate wifi also to test it with no luck.
        I've paper clipped it numerous times now & set it up fresh but still the same.
        Also, I'm still getting the message that I need a premium account to see history if Skytrak isn't on & connected. Is this normal? Or is it a bug that's being worked on in the next release.

          Oh, so you are losing the data from your local history if you close the app? That should not happen at all.

          If you close the app, connect to internet in settings, then open the app and sit on the dashboard, even for 10 minutes...does it eventually sync?

          And finally, yeah you need the unit connected to view Profile>History, but I'm working on that.

            Nope, the session I had on Tuesday night sat there waiting & waiting, I eventually, after changing the wifi connection, closed the app & re-opened it & it was gone.
            Good to know you're working on the profile-history so we don't have to have the laser running all the time.

              That is very strange. So you did a session, exited practice, saw that session in your profile>history, waited awhile, closed/reopened the app, and it was gone?

              Something I want to make clear here, while we're discussing it, is some confusion around sessions. The term session is treated a bit differently in the background (ie database) that it is in the app. As far as the database is concerned, a session is when you open the app until you close it. So you could go in and do multiple practice "sessions" (really these are considered activities within a session to the db). That why you may see sessions in your saved history that are hours or even days long. So basically, make sure all your shots aren't going into an earlier practice session that day (or really anytime since the app has been open). In the future, I will be breaking this apart so each time you go to practice it is a separate entry in the history.

              Yes, I've seen long sessions when using the unit in the garden. I'll go to the range tomorrow & report back my findings again. Thanks very much for your support. Really appreciated. Nige

                I am experiencing the exact same problem. I went to Direct Mode and back to Network Mode. Then, this problem started. This is really exhausting my patience.

                  Nigelfea, how did you exactly make the perpetual "WAITING TO SYNC..." go away? So I tried what you and SkyTrak_Seth suggested: closed my app (i.e., shutting it completely by double-clicking home button and swipe up), connect to wifi (in fact tried connecting to another wifi), open app (w/o turning on the SkyTrak unit itself) but I still have the forever looping "WAITING TO SYNC..." that won't go away? Help and advice much appreciated. Thanks.

                    Hi, I haven't got it sorted yet. I've had the same problem since receiving the unit a couple of weeks ago. If I take the unit off the network to the range, then it won't sync until I reset all the settings. As soon as I double click & close the app the session has gone, which needs sorting urgently.
                    The only way to get it syncing again is to delete the app and paper clip the unit. then setup the unit from scratch again.
                    Thought I had it last week by setting up a seperate wifi just for Skytrak & using it on the network, then switching the wifi off, so it connects directly. Then switching the unit on & bingo it synced.
                    As soon as I took it to the range & came back & tried to connect, I got the waiting to sync message. ;-(
                    We'll see what happens at the range tomorrow now & i'll document everything.
                    The annoying thing is it will play WGT on the Network but won't connect to Sky360 to sync, so it's not a Network/ wifi problem

                    Yeah previously I have only been able to get out of this problem and sync by resetting unit and uninstalling/reinstalling app or when there is an update on the app (which I guess does a reinstall). Quite annoying - I almost rather not have the sync feature anymore...

                  I think I had it synced. Yesterday night, I gave up on this and just closed the app and turned off Skytrak. This morning, I just opened the app and didn't turn on Skytrak. I had it run itself for a while. I checked on it and it said 'Data Synced'. I didn't have time to hit balls, but I will tonight or tomorrow.

                  I am having "Waiting to Sync" issue as well.
                  Details:
                  Ipad Air 2
                  Updated IOS APP
                  Had been working fine. No changes in hardware, firmware, software or internet.
                  ST is on the same network as the Ipad.

                      So you're saying this is issue only w v2.0 (which is the current latest iOS version) and when iOS v2.1.1 comes out these syncing issues will go away? If so like Guest below eagerly awaiting iOS v2.1.1 approval.
