  • Skytrak sync problem?

    My skylark was working fine. Then suddenly the software starts hanging up.. Big delays while the ball is in the air. Then it restarts then delays again. I have tried uninstalling the software and reinstalling. Seems like sync never syncs. The interface seems buggy.. I have to tap several times on the screen to go from app to settings. Works fine in direct mode. My internet is very fast so that can't be it. Also works fine with WGT. Problem points to sky golf server maybe???

    Yep, I was eagerly waiting for the new version.
    Updated on Tuesday, range Wednesday, now Thursday & still waiting for Skytrak app to sync.
    Tried everything & it's not having it. After having this problem since I bought it 3 weeks ago, I wiped the system at the weekend to test & then the update arrived.
    Great, test the new version at the range & hopefully it will sync. :-(
    Not having any of it. Will it ever sync?
    Oh & yes, it still allows me to connect to wgt over the network.
    Any comments Skytrak? Nige

      PC Beta worked fine for me. Sync issues started as soon as I installed 2.1 version. With 2.1.1, the initial sync is much faster (less than 20 seconds, instead of 2-3 minutes). I think the issue may not be in the app at all, but something on Skytraks side that has been improved.

      I can launch the range app, and start hitting balls immediately. No more issues with the first several shots pausing in mid-air every 20 yards as the sync process bogs down the application.

        Have you ever gotten any data synced before? In other words, you never saw data in sky360?? If so, have you activated your membership at skypro.com?

          I've got data in skygolf from the very first time I got my unit 2 weeks ago and first connected in network mode. Since then the only other time my unit synced was after installing the new app. It synced but had no shot data to transfer.
          since then and after my first trip to the range and using it in direct mode it has never synced. Even now when I connect back in network mode I can play shots etc. but it still doesn't sync.

          Would be interesting to see if it's just a uk problem as I believe Nigel is in the uk, the same as me.

            Just been in the net at home & the 2 sessions I've just done have synced to 360, so this problem of not syncing is only when a session is done away from the home network. Anyone else having the same problem?
            As mentioned above, WGT works, practice & challenges work, it's only when I'm away from home it doesn't.

              Yes, but it won't sync after I've used Skytrak away from the home network.

              I've lost 3 or 4 sessions now where I've deleted the app & re-installed to get it working.

              Have detailed below my findings tonight.

                Yeah I have same problem and I have a US SkyTrak and not in UK. Looks like every time you after you use Direct Mode it will not sync until you uninstall and reinstall app then sync works fine in Network Mode until you use Direct Mode again then sync fails again. Extremely infuriating - almost wish there is no sync feature at all.

                  Ok, let me try your procedure and see if I can get it to fail. So just use network mode, change to direct mode and hit some shots, then it never syncs? What if you just install and do a direct mode session? Does that sync? Keep in mind that you should close the app after the session, connect to internet, then open the app. Having an internet connection when the app launches is what triggers the sync.

                  For me procedure is as follows (not sure for others) using iPad Mini 2:
                  1. Use ST at home on network mode (no problems syncing).
                  2. Always close app (i.e., swipe up) after use.
                  3. Take to range - no internet at range (and I've been unable to connect to iPhone hotspot) so just open up app, change to direct mode, find ST wifi signal and connect iPad to it, then hit some balls.
                  4. After range session (which captures all the shots onto iPad locally), close app and go home.
                  5. Once at home, made sure iPad is connected to home wifi, open ST app and get perpetual continuously looping "WAITING TO SYNC..."
                  6. Now even if switch back network mode using home wifi, will not sync direct mode range session to SkyGolf 360 account nor new shots hit using network mode either (though they do show up locally on iPad).
                  7. If uninstall/reinstall app, sync works again (I guess from SkyGolf 360) but all the interim direct mode or network mode session previously not synced and was locally on iPad only will be lost.
                  NOTE: App stays logged in to same SkyGolf 360 account all the time.

                  I'm wondering could problem be because range has no wifi and app needs to log into your SkyGolf 360 account (which requires wifi connection to do so) first before you change to direct mode to hit shots for direct mode session to be synced when next synced using wifi again? And all future sessions (network or direct mode) unable to sync coz sync is stuck at the first unsyncable direct mode session?

                  Btw Mazenblue, instead of writing numbers down I just take screen shots of the unsyncable session history saved locally in iPad..

                Ok I've figured out how to get rid of the annoying "WAITING TO SYNC..." besides having to uninstall/reinstall (except you will still lose all your session data since last direct mode session). I simply logged out of app - then after logging back in it attempts to sync (I left it syncing all night and it finally synced - prob took a while because now you're syncing data from all sessions since day 1) but you will still lose all data from sessions since your last direct mode session. So really not different than uninstalling/reinstalling except maybe less hassle than having to uninstall and reinstall.

                SkyTrak_Seth, so seems like the problem might be that data from the direct mode session - it just simply won't sync to SkyGolf 360 hence hindering syncing for all subsequent sessions (direct or network mode). Once you get rid of that data locally from your iPad (by logging out and back in or uninstalling/reinstalling app) it syncs ok. So again, could problem be because at range there is no wifi so you are unable to really log in to your account on the app (even though you've stayed logged in from last time using app by checking the "Remember Me"), so the direct mode session was really done w/o any login/user info attached to it hence after taking home it is unable to sync? Thanks.

                  My simulator area is outside my wifi coverage area. So I have the same direct mode issue. With the new app I just email the results. I really like the SkyTrak, for a launch monitor and the price. It just does not perform as advertised, I'm very frustrated with 360 Golf and Sync issues. Sending me an email to upgrade my GIP Package for only $100.00 and extending it for a year is an insult. How about fixing the last 9 months where it did not perform?

                  Yes paying $100 (let alone $100 a year) for SW that does not work is insulting - and this comment applies to WGT as well. SkyGolf seems to care more about getting their licensing security right so they can collect their $100-200/year annuity than fixing and getting the SW right for users/consumers (I mean simple-to-fix issues like syncing, battery meter, autoputt, soft chips/putting and short driver distances on WGT + other useful features many have recommended for GIP + multi-player and side views for WGT). End result will be most customers will forego GIP and WGT going forward which will make their super tight licensing security useless anyways.

                doublebogey , I tried your steps to reproduce and am having no trouble syncing direct/network mode sessions no matter which order I do them in. Can you please PM me your email and serial number? I will need to have them check on the back end.

                  Also when you went from network to direct mode, did you completely close app, go to a place where there is no wifi signal, open up app and try to connect using direct mode w/o allowing app to connect (via wifi) using network mode first? I think that might have been the problem - but I could be wrong.

                  i hit in my garage where there is no wifi, i have no data sync'd either. i connect to the ST using the usb cable.

                      I too am in the very same situation. I can't get My Skytrak to sync: (constant "waiting to sync") I have many sessions of Direct Mode gathered at my warehouse (no wifi) I come home and for the life of me can't get it to sync. I'm very IT savy. I've spent hours reloading the app, going between Direct and Network trying to get it to sync. I have an Ipad 2 after several hours it still did not sync to my Sky Golf 360 account, except for one shot? a warm - up practice (I used a 2-wood) since I don't own one I wouldn't be confused with my other club data. Anyway I've owned the Skytrak for a couple months now and really need to get it figured out. I was waiting for all the craziness to settle (the WGT app and all). Should I paper clip it and start over? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

                        I've been paper clipping it (resetting unit) and uninstalling/reinstalling app - but this can't be the long-term solution. So I'd say we wait for SkyTrak_Seth to come back with a fix or resolution for us.

                        SkyTrak_Seth, given it seems like quite a few have the same syncing problem, you guys should definitely try to find and fix this bug ASAP as syncing was supposed to be a basic feature of GIP which customers have paid for and therefore should rightly expect it to work properly. Thanks.

                      I could Stanton have issues too, where it takes 10 minutes to finally sync on startup. Problem is with a room full of people and stuttering graphics it's shockingly slow.
                      I just want to turn the whole stupid thing off altogether if they can't afford decent hosting for the backend.
