I think your first point below is the biggest problem. I think people bought either without researching what they were getting or bought with the thought the "soon/coming" meant something within the very near future. The skytrak website has stated what it did as well as what hardware was required for some time now, so there shouldn't have been any issue unless they ignored it or didn't read it. However, some may have bought based on WGT which has turned out to be a dud from what i've read. I only used the demo challenge when it was available. I did not purchase the package with it and based on comments, probably won't get it either.

As to six months, don't hold your breath. I was a preorder and have now had mine a year and that is where the headache is really starting to come from. We have went through a ton of issues and most thought that by now it would have been better, myself included. With the recent release, it seems to be at a pretty good point for the most part. I personally thought it would have reached this state some time ago.

Some of us were told certain things that did not turn out to be true, so some are ticked about that as well.

I have read lots of the threads here... am I missing something where everyone was promised a working SIM in a certain time frame?

I think most people are complaining is because they don't want to pay for a GC2, but Skytrak isn't 100% what they want yet... other than the low cost.

6 months from now, the comments should be interesting.

I realize that nothing has been officially promised and I really like my unit. It's just that I think it would help us and skytrak as well to to keep us a little bit informed on what there plan is going forward. Even if that means all other Sims will be pushed back month or years or even canceled. That's there decision to make . We would just like to know to be able to adjust accordingly.

I feel the issue here is that skytrak is marketing itself and labeling itself as a Golf Simulator.......As of TODAY, IT's NOT. IT's a LAUNCH MONITOR!!!!

To me a golf simulator allows you play golf with your friends.

A launch monitor is a training/teaching tool.

Which category does it seem skytrak falls into? To me (again, just my thoughts) skytrak cannot be called a golf simulator until you can play multiple courses with your friends.

I don't consider WGT a Golf Simulator Software program. I'm not going to harp on it, that's been done enough.

Skytrak is in the business to make money.
They want to sell as many Skytrak units as possible.

Do you think that they are intentionally holding things back that are ready?

Trust me wbond, I am the most frustrated person in the world with Skygolf. I wish I could sit down and have a beer with you, discussing the events over the last 2 years. All I can say is that TGC has been ready for a long time now. In fact so has E6 and more recently PG. what they are waiting for is beyond me but more related to marketing/deals done etc than actual ability, if that makes sense!

I hear ya luv. I wish there was. I have been pushing as hard as I can. Part of the issue is that Skygolf is a big company and with that comes too much bureaucracy. They seem to be fixed on subscription services just like Skycaddie, which I hate personally. I only hope that they speed up their decision making pronto. ES16 is coming!

I guess in the end, no matter what is or isn't ready - there is something on their end that isn't finished. Integration, subscriptions, licencing... and when it is finished they will be able to release it.
If there is "bargaining" going on about who is going to make money and at what point, then there is no easy way to put a timeline on something like that...

So I got an email today from skytrak they have released their pc version. That would be the first step in simulation software right? Sim software needs to be installed and I don't see many, if any that are iOS and correct me if I'm wrong but to this point skytrak has only been iOS. So that is a positive sign things may soon be following? On another note, You have my curiosity up on the e16 bubba. I got an ad for the e15 the other day. Moving into a new house with a sim area in 3 weeks so hopefully the timing matches up.

No, PC software and sim integration has nothing to do with each other.
What the problem is and why we don't have sim yet is unknown since ST is the only ones that know and they are not telling anybody.
My guess is that they are still struggling with license management and payment system integration.
Even if the GIP management seams to work more or less I don't think that is enough since they probably plan to grab a piece of the Sim SW revenue pie, as well. To implement this in a hacker proof way is quite difficult.
If my suspicion is correct then this is a clear shoot your self in the foot type of activity. As opposed to a setup where you grab as much market share as you can, while you can.

Unfortunately we live in a world of pointing the finger at someone else, I'm sure skytrak will say it's someone else's problem (even though we all know they have everything needed to release).

It always comes down to $$. The consumer is always at the end of rope, once they have figured out how to grab their piece of the pie, then we'll see a release.

It's quite unfortunate that something couldn't just be done with the current sim makers and they just pay skygolf. My guess is skygolf is looking for full control and yes, as you mentioned, they are having issues wrapping the security around the software.

davray, it does when their present version was only proven to work with 4 versions of IPad and nothing else. I do not see any posts on any forum about playing E6 software on an IPad. WGT is the only company that was adapted to ios and thats why they had to go with them with that as their sim option. This changes that. Not saying it will make it so E6 or TGC will integrate tomorrow or next month but it was a necessary step.

Bnorman you are probably new to the forum and have maybe 1 year worth of posts to catch up on to get the full picture. So it's perfectly natural that you make the conclusion you just did.
The ST PC support that feeds data in to simulators has been around for more than 1 year. The reason it was not released is not because it was not ready but because it needed other features not related to sim play.
You should not confuse this PC interface software with the ST range, that is another piece of SW. The interface and vision processing software that comes from Rapsodo is working in the background and is not visible by the user.
Skytrak in Japan that uses the same Rapsodo SW has had simulator play for a long time. Difference is that they don't have GIP and other on line subscription services.
Me and probably a bunch of other people believe that GIP will be all you need in order to use an ST unit with sim SW such as PG, TGC and E6.
But I am starting to think that might not be the case and that some new creative subscription models are being designed as we speak. We will see.

Yep, I am new to this so I am just going by what is out there. I have contacted every company out there and read a lot on here. A lot to decipher. I do know foresight is not happy with tgc working with the gc2 saying their sdk got hacked and want to know the source of where I heard tgc worked with gc2. Of course I didn't say anything, they can google just as well as I can. see people talking about firmware blocks etc, etc. I know tgc is popular and I know gc2 is popular but the 2 can't be bought together. I have one shot to get this right because I don't have a lot of money to waste. I know trugolf has been very good about sharing info but I can't find much about trutrac on here. I know this isn't the forum for all that but I will take all the help I can get. I know not being able to putt off the fringe and get anywhere close to to hole from 10 feet like ST users say isn't going to cut it. So, please direct me to a forum or give me your best suggestions for a 7-8 k total system. You guys are obviously very knowledgable about all this. Thanks.

Hey guys. First day back in the office. I still have bunch of catching up to do, but the one update I can give you is that v2.1.1 is submitted to Apple. I'll make sure we get the PC update on the website in the next day or so as well. Unfortunately, I really can't comment on our simulation partners, mainly because I've been out of the loop for a bit. Let me get my bearings and I will touch base later today.
