Temperature affect skytrak

So I haven't got around to formally testing this just yet but I came across something that is odd. Can skytrak put out a bogus high ball speed out of the blue? The ball speed I got is in the realm of possibilities for me but I wasn't swinging that efficiently I didn't think. I made great contact but its a tad high on the bs. Might have to search the forums for this topic or post a new one.

Any of you run into this?

Sure it could get a bad read and put one out. However, i think most have felt that it is usually a couple MPH short on BS. The video comparing it to GC2 shows this on the faster readings

But could it produce higher ball speed on the order of 15-20 mph? Can a worn down ball trick it? It wasn't like 200 mph ball speed, but it was at the upper end of what I have been capable of on Trackman, but like I said, I really didn't feel my swing was quick enough that day to get that kind of jump in ball speed. I only noted sweet spot hits btw, so it wasn't a contact issue.

Ok, to update the original post. I tested Skytrak while it was still warm from being inside the house and then again after an hour. I saw no change in average ball speed reading. I went and hit some more even later and I was able to hit the higher ball speeds I was having trouble with before.

I will credit this issue to swing variability (for now) until I find a better way to test. I would hope the unit stays consistent even when as cold as 30 F.

If anyone has a golf ball cannon, can I borrow it?

I really can't comprehend how anyone would think that temperature fluctuation one would experience in the real world would have any impact on the skytrak itself (not talking about ball speed in cold vs hot weather). People come up with some weird theories when it relates to their golf swing I suppose.

It's possible camera timings..etc. may be slowed when components are at freezing or below. Dunno. Mechanical pieces usually operate slower when cold. Not sure the camera components of these things actually mechanically move or even exist.

I'd put more influence on the temperature of the ball/you (muscles/extra clothes) vs the machines though.

Most any machine has an optimal operating temperature range that it functions best in!!

User guide says extreme temperatures may impact performance. I guess we need a definition of extreme. I interpret that as outside of the range of temperatures a rational human would be hitting balls in, but I've been wrong before. I just think generally people look to the technology to be wrong vs their own inconsistencies.

I chalk up differences in shot performances up to cold....ball, muscles etc....but I do notice more frequent misreads by the system in cold temperatures, ie when it's only 30 in my sim room and it hasn't warmed up yet.....once it gets up to 50 the issues tend to resolve themselves.

Yes, my goal is to prove or disprove beyond a doubt that their is any significant change in shot reading given operating temperature. Extreme cold can effect battery voltage although typically lithium is pretty good in that regard I think. Cold could potentially effect shutter speed, condensation from sudden environmental change could cause inconsistencies etc.

I often use the Skytrak while hitting balls in my garage when it's as cold as 25 degrees. I had noticed a great difficulty getting past certain ball speeds after having hit for a while (rotated two warm golf balls from my pocket).

The other day it was significantly warmer in my garage when I tested and I did not see an issue.

Skytrak says themselves that temperature can cause issues but do not go into any detail.

Its difficult to test, I was hoping Seth would pop on and maybe shed some light on any potential issues.
