  • SkyTrak @ PGA Show 2016

    Figured I'd get this rollin'.

Taking centre stage, literally, at SkyCaddie’s booth #1301 at this year’s PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida, will be the highly-rated and award-winning SkyTrak personal launch monitor / golf simulator.

Since stocks reached the UK in November 2015 SkyTrak has drawn consistently positive reviews from the golf clubs and golfers who placed an early order, and the 2016 PGA Merchandise Show represents the perfect opportunity for UK PGA professionals and retailers making the trip to Orlando to try it for themselves.

And one visitor to the SkyCaddie booth will walk away with a valuable bonus this year, as everyone who has a SkyTrak demonstration at the 2016 PGA Show will be entered into a free prize draw to win their own SkyTrak system.

Alongside SkyTrak will be SkyCaddie’s world-class line-up of GPS distance measuring devices, set to be boosted by some new GPS product announcements to be made at this year’s Show. SkyCaddie’s popular SkyPro, now firmly established as golf’s leading personal swing analysis and training device, is expected to be another big attraction.

“Although it has only recently come into general use, SkyTrak is already being acknowledged as truly game-changing new golf technology throughout the industry” said SkyCaddie’s Senior Vice-President International Sales & Marketing, Jacqui Surman.

“With more and more PGA professionals now using SkyTrak for club fitting and coaching, and with the fast-growing amount of golf courses available to play through SkyTrak in golf simulator mode, SkyTrak’s powerhouse features set at an equally powerful price point is proving unbeatably attractive – and we’ve only just got started as regards using SkyTrak to its full potential.

“It will undoubtedly be one of the stars of this year’s Show, and we expect it to attract a large number of first-time visitors to our booth – where they will also find our best-ever line-up of GPS devices and the ever-impressive SkyPro too”.

Tom Field, Head Pro at The Wychwood GC in the Cotswolds, was one of the early adopters of SkyTrak in the UK. “In the first week I would say that we sold nine extra sets of golf clubs because we had a SkyTrak on hand, so it’s been a revolution already in that aspect” he said. “I already view our SkyTrak as essential for our custom-fitting operation here.

“SkyTrak does what other far more expensive launch monitors do, but at a fraction of the price. With the added simulator functions, it will help us to expand our business and offer a buying and entertainment experience which the internet cannot offer”.

Tom Atkinson, Head PGA Professional at Heswall GC on The Wirral, was another of the first UK customers for SkyTrak. “In just the first week I used SkyTrak to do a wedge gapping fitting, and entertained a group of golfers with a Nearest The Pin challenge when the course was temporarily closed during torrential rain” he said. “We’ve already sold one SkyTrak to a member, with another group pledging to club together to buy one for shared use.

“The SkyTrak graphics are simply stunning. We easily hooked it up to our big TV and had no problem running the WGT Golf sim software, which looks incredible and very lifelike. Also, as there are no cameras to set up, it’s a piece of cake to switch it for a left-hander to use.

“It’s an incredibly good piece of kit which we will use a lot this winter, let alone during the season. I already feel that SkyTrak is adding value to our memberships at Heswall GC, which is absolutely crucial these days”.

Sounds promising, which is why I've been eagerly checking this week for news.

Never mind the Apple boys, Seth, when can we have the PC version????

I am personally very angry now. I was (and a few others were) told that SIM integration would be ready and released by now (as in either at the PGA show or VERY shortly after), from a guy at Sport Trak. If I have to wait another month or even 2-3 weeks for TGC and perfect golf this is a bunch of BS. Get with the damn program and stop giving out dates and then back tracking. What a mess.

I think they are really close I gave 2 months just to be conservative but really it sounds as if it will be earlier. I played the TGC demo today and it was really nice as well as the new app release. These things take time I would rather it be ready and a lot less bugs when it does release.

I get it - but I would prefer they not say 'within 10 days' then, when I asked them 2 weeks ago.

I have a Premier DivotAction Simulator with E6 1.6 When on the fringe you just change from lob wedge to putter and putt no problem. You never need to select club because it uses a launch camera, but if you are not on the green and want to putt you select putter.

Interesting, Premier DivotAction Simulator - what exactly is that, I've never heard of it? What is the cost of this unit?

A sim that cant putt or chip isn't worth 20 dollars let alone a 1000.

What if you want to chip and you are less than 20'. Good luck getting it to read and when you do, it's well by the hole.

I can flop shots from fringe 15-20' from hole and ball stops before hole works fine

I was told by the guy at the E6 booth that you will have no problem with short chips when the software is released.

There is a reason a PC version exists, so you don't have to wait on apple any further. If it's ready release it!!!!!

Spudly, have you tried a very short chip on TGC? If so, does it work as well as what was posted in the youtube video? What about putting on TGC, is it better than e6 demo?

Chipping is not an issue with TGC check with some of the beta testers on this forum and they will confirm.

I just hit driver and the a couple of irons, just to get a feel for the delay and the physical reaction to the terrain. I have to say it is better than the HD sports, XGolf and Full swing simulators that I also hit today for a small fraction of the price. I am convinced more than ever this is the launch monitor of the future.

So what's the delay like? Is it the same as E6?

Just for fun, yes I know it's a little of topic, but here is my new golf cart. At least now I will be able to get to my ball.

I'm done for the day, must of walked a couple miles today. After seeing all the simulators here at the show and their huge price tags, by far the best value is Skytrak I know some of you are frustrated by the delay of sim options but the guys at Skytrak are just as frustrated, they want nothing more than to get things going also.

I saw some sim setups today that cost over 30k and they did were running the same E6 software that will be available soon for Skytrak at a fraction of the cost.

I am sure Seth and the crew will have things ready to go soon, the new range version is awesome, exactly what I have been asking for.

Really appreciate all the info you've been able to share! If you are able to get back to the SkyTrak booth tomorrow, could you try out the Perfect Golf software on the ST and let us know how the putting and short chipping is working?

              Thanks!!!

Thanks so much for all the good info, spudly and seth. Does the new app include shot height, angle of descent, or accelerometer calibration?

I think the biggest frustration is the fact there is playable betas and still no release. If people had no idea working betas existed they would just wait until next year and not have as much an issue.

The fact though is that there is a playable beta that frankly should have been released as an open beta for many reasons. People could try it out during this simulator season that will be ending in two to five weeks for most of us and at least have some sort of software to use. You will get way more feedback on bugs, missing features, broken features ect by a larger testing group. The betas could also serve as a demo for people to see what software they prefer if any as well among other reasons.

The skytrak 2.1.1 software is a driving range but honestly is lacking so much at this point it really isnt even of use as a practice tool it just lets you see your ball flight. You need targets to properly practice golf, just mindlessly beating balls down a range with no target is just bad for your back and you get nothing from it. All I do is call out a number and try to hit a shot to that distance and keep it close to the white line, it works but its fricken lame to be honest. Sure there is the 100$ Practice upgrade that gives you closest to the pin and bullseye but it has many flaws. One being it doesnt work via usb in left handed mode without swaping to right handed within 3 minutes of use.

Yeah that doest fix anything, it is a software handling of the USB stack, I works on my work laptop but all three of my desktops have the same issue. Id just use my work laptop if I were allowed to bring it home but I took the skytrak to work to try it out lol.

Chipping: seeing as it's ST that doesn't register the shot i.e. the light doesn't go red then I don't see how chipping is fixed on ANY of the sims without some kind of firmware upgrade to ST itself.
For this reason I am very dubious as to whether it is truely fixed for the beta testers. It might be by the time the sims are released but I'm sure it will be via a firmware update to ST.
Now if only we had a full round to watch on YouTube rather than a canned 30 secs.

Awesome Mr Hogan, I agree, if we ONLY had a full round to watch on YouTube, we'd have everything we need to know about how the ST unit performs on a simulator, including this very important issue: So what's the delay like? Is it the same as E6?

I don't have any issue with chipping on the range in skytrak , registers 3yd and up chips. Ball barely makes it to my screen and that's what shows on the unit.

The mistake was in telling is that we could have more at a great price, a price that used to be 10x what we have paid so far. We believed in "why not"? Why can't skytrak change the game once again? Well, I believe they are about to. I believe that by the end of next week we will all be able to play incredible sim golf in our homes for a small percentage of what we ever could have expected. I believe. I have a dream! (Maybe a day late with this post but I believe this will be true nonetheless). I can't wait to lead this dream with each of you. Golf as we know it will be changed forever.
I'm so bummed right now. Seth SkyTrak_Seth please give us a date. If it isn't months away seems that shouldn't be too much to ask. Sport trak told is 10 days 20 days ago. It would help relieve so much stress. It's tough to remain inspired (see above).
