I started out just having distance problems, now every shot is a cut and going 215 yards. I purposely pulled the shot and still a big cut with spin rates of 4000 to 5000. I have some screen shots from a month ago and seemed to be working. By the way I was just outside Vegas playing golf last weekend. Temps in the 50's so it wasn't very warm but actual drives are 275 range. Has anyone had these issues? I called customer support they told me to reset and delete the app. I have done that 3 times. I am hopping Seth has some ideas or maybe I have a bad unit.
Bad unit?

Use the alignment mode to see exactly where it is aimed first. If you have higher ball speeds with your driver you may consider teeing up half to a full inch behind the red dot instead of right on it to give the camera a little more time to read. That worked for me. May check the golf ball too. Need to have great quality balls with no cuts or scrapes.

Same thing happened to a friend on my device, big cut with driver and 4000+ spin ending around 215 yards. The other 3 of us were knocking them down the middle , he figured it out and got it straightened up after about 2 hrs
.
Not saying its your swing but sometimes we all have off days with the swing / alignment issues and sometimes easy to blame the unit, as long as its set up right and was working before i can't see a reason for the change in accuracy.

Thanks for the advice, I tried the new ball prov1x, tried different positions. My 8 iron is right on. The first thing I looked at was my swing. I use it as a launch monitor to work on my game. I am a 4 handicap so the numbers are very important. I don't want to by es16 so I might to gc26 Photos

ive read balls like prov1s and 1xs are not good, try a nxt tour s or a velocity. ive had great results with those balls.Originally posted by lterryjr View PostThanks for the advice, I tried the new ball prov1x, tried different positions. when i say not good i mean skytrak doesnt like them as much as the others for some reason.

My opinion (worth only about 2 cents...):
1) Based on other test data I've seen, I wouldn't trust ES14 for anything except ball speed- and that matches closely with ST.
2) I would trust the aboutgolf measurements in my experience, and it appears they are the same as the ST in your case. This gives me confidence that the ST is reading exactly right, and is not a bad unit. The difference btw the AG unit and the ST is the reported carry and total. For the numbers given for that one shot in your first post, the ST is more accurate regarding carry distance. FTO shows this shot as 202 carry. 244 carry for this launch data is overly optimistic. OF will concur with this assessment. AG could have altitude or wind applied? The only way to get out to 244 with 141 ball speed is with about a 25 degree launch angle and spin under 2000.
I don't think your unit is off based on the data you posted. Remember we're talking carry distance here, too. If you were in Vegas (2000 ft altitude), you could definitely see 275 total distance with the launch data you presented, along with hard fairways.

i love the fact you took altitude in effect for the longer drives. I would of never thought of that. great post. def cause and effect. i wish i could play all my golf in Colorado ! haha

Thanks. For some reason I feel compelled to defend the ST hardware's street cred. I think it has gotten a bad rep for no real reason lately.

I had no issues with PRO V1's either, it's the only ball I hit. To me you don't want to hit a different ball then you play on the course.
I also found that my yardages are farther with my GC2 then they were with skytrak. If you know your numbers and are willing to accept some variation of on course vs. ST practice then great. It's a great launch monitor, but it still needs tweaking with their algorythm. You'll see more changes coming out in the near future, they need to work on the LW to Gap.

Good input. Regarding the GC2 distances I've seen, I think it can be optimistic on some drives, though. Using Optimal Flight, I saw a lot of shots where the GC2 was sometimes quite a bit longer than OF reports

I understand you are defending the unit I have had mine for a year, I avg about 5 days a week hitting bales with it.
St worked really well untill two weeks ago. My drives where avg 240 to 255 spin rates most of the time around 2200 and 15 launch. By the way I got my driver fit for me in November at the fujikura studio in San Diego.
I have used the unit plenty and I do know when something is wrong. I can't even get to talk to anybody at skytrak

I haven't had any issues with any golf balls. Even at the dome the readings were surprisingly good. Those golf balls were yellow and in horrible condition. I've been testing several balls for this coming season. Snell, maxfli u6 tourx, prov1x, prov1, chromesoft, tm tour preferred x, srixon xv. All urethane covers, I'll post results when I'm done. So far most spin on a full 56* wedge 1. Max 2. Prov1 x 3. Prov1. Fastest ball speed hands down on an 8 iron chromesoft. Snell overall nice surprise.

I hear you, but when you compare your unit to another respected, camera-based launch monitor on the same exact shot (the aboutgolf perform pro)... and it shows darn near identical launch data, I have to conclude that the unit is fine. That, or the particular aboutgolf unit you used is a bad unit in exactly the same way as your ST unit.Originally posted by lterryjr View PostI understand you are defending the unit I have had mine for a year, I avg about 5 days a week hitting bales with it.
