  • Anyone have any issues getting shots to stick on greens in TGC?

Does anyone have issues with their wedge/7/8/9 iron shots not staying on green even with high spin numbers?

Using brand new clubs, no dirt or golf ball skin in grooves.

    Thanks,

I wouldn't have thought that you could alter the course, that's the designers decision how the course is set up, that's why on some courses you can't hold a green, that's the way it was set up to try and protect a low score

Par is protected (except for a couple really great players) simply by the fact that were playing with a real ball and our real swings.

Most the sim players are bogie or worse golfers.

The greens firmness and speed are overwritten to provide a little less inconsistency across the courses since most sim users are having enough difficulty with their own golfing abilities.

It was made this way to help us, not circumvent the designers wishes.

We're very appreciative of all the great user designers!

That's interesting, I know wide fairways and soft greens are a help and also less severe elevation changes is there any other things a designer can do to make it user friendly to the pro tee community, what about having to fade and draw shots, on one of my courses Lochry Doon you really need to be able to fade your shot on the second hole, would it be better not to include fade and draws in the design.

I'll chime in and repeat what goatbarn already said - we appreciate all the effort that the designers make and the courses that they create.

Right now there's also a bit of a learning process going on since there are quite a few new TGC sim users from the release of the SkyTrak interface. They might be more susceptible to commenting about some quirks, etc.

I think it's better that we not calm everything down just for the sake of quiet in the sim user camp. Last course that was selected for the online tournament, The Marina, had a lot of complaints, mostly about the greens as it happens, but I will be playing it again as it actually tended to fairly penalize bad shots, if that makes sense.

There's also the option of setting gimmes to 'on green' which takes putting out of play, if greens are an issue..

In the end, there are enough courses to choose from so if a sim user doesn't like one, they can move on and try the next.

Keep up the great design work! Thanks!

Whatever you are used to golfing on plays a role as well. Where I play, most greens are pretty receptive due to humidity and typical waterfall. Anything 9 iron or more, I get to hit and stop or backspin a bit, very little rollout on 7 and 8 irons. The TGC greens are a bit firmer so you get more bounce and rollout, no biggie if you play for it.
