TGC - all it takes is an email and not long after you have a solution. Does PG have support the way TGC does?
There is a dedicated thread on the perfect parallel forums (where the game devs read and are active) specifically for skytrak support. At this time they are in the information gathering phase on this, but they are aware that something is going on.

If you need PG support you can contact Mogulbasher right here on the forum.

Ok, the PG Sim Console App should launch immediately. If it does not you can launch it manually from the following places

    C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Perfect Golf\Apps\PGSimConsole (32bit)

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Perfect Golf\Apps\PGSimConsole (64bit)

Guys from Perfect Golf gave me the same info and it worked after I also updated my .net framework. Now the console also pops up on its own.

Annoying that I had issues at first but the guys at Perfect Golf were super helpful and on it right away.
Played Sawgrass and aside from having to rearm every so often it worked great.

Anyone know how to offset the centerline?

Press F8 at the setup start typing sim_ and you'll see offset. -0.1 up and I think it's left 0.1 and up and I think it's right.

It's a console variable. Hit F8 for the console then adjust Sim_sideoffset to your liking.

You have to set it each time you start the game.

I tried it...didn't like it so went back to normal.

Thanks! I figured it out. I agree, doesn't work like I'd hoped. It offsets your position, but not the actual line. So if you offset right, you'd be looking over you left shloulder to see your target, but hitting square to get there.

I will decide tomorrow which one of the two options i should pull the trigger on and one of the things that was in PG favor was the off set.

I do not really get what you are saying here.

If i offset the screen to the left, doesn't that mean that i can align the ball point and aiming with the start point and direction on the screen?

      Would appreciate a thorough explanation.

PS Shouldn't this thread be stickied? DS

I'm not sure I follow what you're asking... but..

When you offset your position (my ball is right of center by a bit, so I chose to offset the screen by ".6&quot the ball on the screen will move positions. However, your aim point will remain at the center of the screen.

I was expecting to be able to stand behind the ball and look right down my hitting line to see the appropriate target on that same line on screen. That's not what's happening. Instead, you'd need to look to your left (in my case) to see where you're actually going to be hitting, if you should hit it along your target path.

It's sort of difficult to explain, but the entire thing isn't offset, only the ball. I may also go back to just leaving it centered. Hopefully they try to address this..

I wonder if used in combination with F5 to sneak up and hide/cover the ball, it might be what we are thinking is correct?

    • #36
Well you were pretty good at explaining if you didn't get my question. ;-)

Its infact the exact explanation i was looking for.

      Thx

I am having issues with my top light staying green. It starts on, I approach ball it goes off, I rearm the unit using the interface and it comes back on green for 2 seconds before going back red. Did I miss anything in the set up that may be causing this? I do know it works because I have one shot under my belt that I got in before it went red.

I see this when i notice my shadow drift over the ball in some cases. Not every shadow, but maybe if i walk the long way round by mat, or the clubhead is flicked over the ball. I have a light 15 feet directly behind - LED ceiling light, and the projector. I'm careful to approach the ball at the moment from the left side (righty golfer here) and walk into the shot.
Just anecdotal evidence by the way.
I've also heard that this is on the list of things being investigated. So not confined.

All, just wanted to remind everyone I created a Remote Keyboard for controlling PG. Simply install the app on an iPad. Makes playing much better so you don't have to use a keyboard. Since PG does require some mouse clicks, I have a flat touch pad mouse mounted next to where my iPad is mounted. Recommend setting up a touch pad mouse if you are a PG user. Makes clicking and aiming in map and on greens much easier.

Here's the info to setup the Remote Keyboard for PG:

Ok As it relates to the Sim_Offset there are a couple of things to consider. If we moved the offset to the side and then moved the flag to be in line with a straight shot the shot as far as the game is concerned woul be aimed left of target, so you would then have to aim at the middle of the screen which would somewhat offset the point of using the sim offset in the first place. So basically we set it up so that players who have to hit from the side of the room still hit a straight shot and the ball goes where you aimed it using the aim stick. I hope that makes sense

So in the case of offset - the ball on the screen would be the aiming point?
I.E. - it's best to get the ball as close to inline with the real ball and swing down that line.

It makes sense as far as I'm concerned. In my case I didn't revert back to non-offset because I thought it was implemented wrong, I just discovered I preferred the virtual ball leaving the center of the screen even though I hit offset in the room.

If people are having trouble with using the offset it might depend on how they aim? Aiming is always relative to your sensors 0 degree HLA target line. So I only look down at the ball and at my sensor aiming lines to setup, I don't look at anything on the screen. I know that a dead straight shot with respect to my sensor will go straight to my selected aim point in the game.

The correct amount of offset moves the virtual ball over to your sensor's 0 degree HLA target line (assuming the sensor is square to the screen). This way the ball trace starts lined up with your sensor just like it would be if you were setup in the center of the room.

What sort of FPS are you getting?? It looked pretty smooth for you, much better than I get.

Augusta on PG runs 30 fps or less for me. Other courses are 60-90 fps. Running on nvidia 970 GPU.

        • #41
I think I was getting between 45-55 for most of the round. I was surprised it was so low since I typically see a flat 60 when playing PG. Guess it's the course.

BTW, check out 36:30 of the video. You will see my approach shot on 15 bounce off the water. Never seen that before and felt very unrealistic to me.

ks-man why are you posting in the Skytrak thread if you are playing on a GC2? Is the idea that the GC2 and Skytrak will play the exact same?

The software of PG is going to be the same. The way the ball hits the water shouldn't change at all between the two (and would be the same as the Steam version as well).

I originally posted the video so people could see what the Augusta version looks like on PG as both GC2 and Skytrak users have interest in that. There isn't really a GC2 thread for PG so this thread while obviously focused on Skytrak is a good place for all PG info.

As an example, both the GC2 and Skytrak versions have the left/right arrow key bug on the green. That is b/c the bug is in the actual PG software and not just the device implementation.

Just remember that the version of Augusta is a beta release for PG. The course creator is aware of the problems with 15 and already changing for next release.

Mogulbasher and SkyTrak_Seth when will all the PP courses be available? Like the ones Perfect Parallel created, I think someone posted that PP has a list of PGA courses already designed ready to be released.

PP has a stable of courses that are likely owned by the PGA or the golf broadcasters since that is why PP went into business in the first place. They produced the flyovers that were used in golf broadcasts. I wouldn't be too sure that PP owns the rights as they were likely produced on contract and paid for by the broadcaster(s).

It's a convenient myth to perpetuate that these courses will be released...

PG has stated on their website this week that they have all the PGA Tour Courses done. That they will be releasing them at an additional charge.

I honestly don't see nothing wrong with that type of shot. You hit it 5 feet off the ground with a wood. I wouldn't expect nothing different. PG is spot on with that shot

Not sure, you can even see when I flubbed my chip two shots later. It felt like the ball was sitting on the water and came to rest. It was almost like the water is being treated as rough but if it ends there it will have a penalty. Even above Tekbud says the course creator is aware of problems with 15 and the course is just in Beta.
