Skytrak - TGC short chip spin issues

I just saw this last night. I think i've probably been getting used to this effect and playing accordingly all along. What is the new feature going to actually do? Will it read the correct spin value. Is there going to be issues now of it being able to read soft chips?

FWIW, it happened on chips from 10, 11 and 12 yards out. All were the 1k spin with all other values zero'd out.

In addition to the short chip issues I'm experiencing as well I am also having problems with tgc picking up my full 60 degree shots? This is a 80-85 yard shot for me. Yesterday playing tournament I hit the same shot 10 times with no luck then pulled out my 54 and hot it 15 yards past green but shot registered.

It works on skytrak range but not when using tgc.

Anyone else have this happen?

Connect to you PC via Wifi instead of USB if you aren't already and you shouldn't have anymor problems. If the top light isn't turning red after contact then I'm not sure what to tell you. That means it's just not picking the ball up as it passes the cameras. That would be out of the norm for a full shot of that type. All lights staying green normally means your Skytrak isn't properly level with your hitting surface. But you say it works on the range so I don't know. If the laser is disappearing but shot doesn't register, again connect through wifi instead.

Have you tried moving the ball position around with your 60 wedge? It may be that you need it slightly forward of the red dot. The 54 probably launching lower and must be getting captured within the window.

I have been using the usb connection so far. The wifi is better I take it, seems odd?

I was also under the impression that 3 green lights is armed but if the top is red and bottom two are green it is out of level. I am getting a combination of lights staying green and also the bottom turning red after the swing but nothing registered.

Yes, use wifi, trust me. Nobody knows why, but it just works. I've now played almost 100 straight holes in TGC without a single no read. The proper light sequence after making contact should be top light - red with the bottom two - green. This means that the ball was picked up and the unit is processing the shot. I've never heard of the bottom light turning red after a shot, not sure what to make of that. If the lights all stay green and the laser disappears, that means you're hitting the ball either too high or too low for the unit to see it. Wifi won't help this issue, only unit height or ball position relative to the laser will fix that. Some people launch a LW much higher than others, therefore you might have to move the ball slightly in front of the laser, etc.

Yea I definitely agree 100 percent using the wifi instead of ubs, I'm probably near a similar amount of holes without a misread as Vincent is right now. Very weird, but it works for some reason

I tried that before and it wouldn't let me launch the tgc program because the Skytrak was connected via wifi via laptop and there was no network connection for the tgc.

What am I missing here?

My setup is in the garage so really not an option and is the reason why I selected to use a laptop.

I was able to get it to read on a couple full lob shots today but haven't really narrowed it down as to why. Could be ball position.... I have to play around with this a little more.

As for the low spin on chips, I have experienced this quite a bit as well however when playing the Augusta par 3 course today I had a couple of pitches and chips that actually registered 7-10k backspin. These shots hit checked up and spun back as you would expect.

This was the first time I have really seen this on tgc. Most hit and roll out excessively.

Do you have the Skytrak app open at the same time as TGC/Skytrak interface? Make sure to close Skytrak app first. In my basement, I have everything connected via Wifi, my PC isn't hardwired through ethernet. Go in to the Skytrak app and connect the Skytrak in network mode to your Wifi. Then close out and Connect Box in the Skytrak interface for TGC. This should be all you have to do and only one time.

I'm playing my first round ever today and I have this problem too. I noticed it only happens after I get a notification that the skytrak has switched to putting mode. If I don't get that message then the spin is correct. I'm not sure why it is switching to putting mode when I'm off the green and I don't have my putter selected. Is there a way to switch out of putting mode?

Thats good info. I wonder if just choosing a different club or shot type would kick it out of putting mode.

I think this is a windwos 10 feature. I turned it off after the first day because it got annoying. There is an option in Notication Center to "Show app notifications". If this is turned on, TGC will send you a notice every time it switches mode.

A little notification badge pops up on the lower right hand side of my screen. It pops up again on the next tee when it switches back to normal mode.

I've never noticed this, I'll have to pay attention next time I play. Can you change it back for short chips?
