Simple question for those skytrak users that originally bought TGC and followed up with the purchase of PG? Has PG enhanced your sim experience or is it essentially more of the same? The $250 is not the issue - I ask only because I don't want to go through the hassle of setting it up only to find that its no different from TGC.

TGC then bought PG - would you do it again?

Guess I'm the minority here but I bought TGC first and then tried the beta PG, getting both in December. I haven't used TGC that much other than checking out a few courses after trying PG...I find the pg tournaments are great, and ease of setup and play much easier than tgc at the moment. Function over graphics I guess, just my opinion. gc2 user here. When the new tgc update comes out I'll be ready to give it another try..looks like a lot of the upcoming features are going to be great and easier for me and my kids to navigate...

If PG had come out around the same time that TGC came out, I would not have bought the one year license for TGC. Since I have gotten PG, I have not fired up TGC once. PG is a better gameplay experience to me than TGC in every way. That is a personal preference.
Basically TGC has 10 months to come up with a compelling reason for me to come back to it. Since I already know that they have no plans for multiple tee boxes, that alone makes it highly unlikely I will continue with TGC.

I don't like the no sound in PG either. I turned up the "native" sounds and it helps. The tournament at Winged Foot this past week you could hear a dog barking on several holes :-). Personally each has their strengths. I still like TGC better, because of the looks, however I think PG plays more realistic to real life at least for me. I love playing golf so I'll keep playing both since both of them have tour events.

Hearing the ball hit again in tgc after I just heard myself hit sounds odd, each his own. I like that tgc is updating to remove the ball on screen as an option off the tee.Originally posted by BamaGambler View PostIt is just me or is there no sound when the ball is hit on PG? That really bothers me for some reason.

My biggest beef with PG right now is navigating the software. I'm trying to use the iPad app keyboard thing and most of the buttons don't do what I expect. I should switch the keyboard next round and see if that helps.
Another annoying thing is the grid keeps turning itself off. When I zoom into the green I want to see the grid. As soon as I aim left or right the grid turns itself off. Anyone know how to keep it on permanently?

You can remove the ball, change time of day, off set the image and most importantly you can control the greens. PG has firmer faster greens. You can do it now in TGC, once the update comes out. It's far better.Originally posted by fortysixandtwo View Post

PG has firmer, faster greens by default, but while setting up the game you can set the speed to soft and greens as slow as you want.
I also agree that hearing the shot hit after I hit the shot is strange to me.
Grid can be set to Always On, give that a shot.
Obviously to each his own here. I personally prefer PG over TGC but have used both quite a bit. I'm torn on the graphics really. I prefer the PG graphics but definitely see why people prefer TGC. It's almost like if they were to merge things would be perfect - hard to explain really.
As I've stated before, buying both is still WAY less $$ than anyone could have had just a few short years ago and I hope that they will push each other to bigger and better things through competition. If I had to keep one right now though, PG for sure for me.

I agree. Fortunate to have access to both. Always choose to play PG first if given the choice. Just "feels" better to me. A big issue on competitions is actually the API in PG which means it is possible to track leaderboard progress, live scores etc. Builds the excitement as opposed to finishing a round and just waiting for a post confirming my "actual" score based upon what my handicap was this week.
As I've said many times, I actually like both and the new update (if it delivers on some new features which are in beta testing and as such may not deserve to be broadcast as certain features) sounds great! Just stopping the scout camera at the hole will make a massive difference for me.

Just wanted to add my experience. I like the potential of perfect golf, but when I want to play a round I find it difficult not to choose TGC. As was said previously, I thought I would turn off the voice in TGC when initially played but after getting use to it, the silence in perfect golf is not ideal.
I haven't played JNPG enough to really say, but I'm happy with the one time payment for TGC aside from the yearly skygolf fee which is fine. If JNPG a offered a one time purchase I would be much happier with my purchase. As it is now I probably wouldn't renew next year.
