Thanks so much for all of your contributions to the forum. I've learned a lot just by reading everyone's posts. Really appreciate it.

1. I've been reading a lot about distance issues with sky track. For those in the know, are there really distance issues or does it all boil down to people not knowing how far they hit their clubs?

2. I would love to buy TGC but right now all I can afford is WGT. I know there are issues with gameplay, graphics in multiplayer use but does WGT accurately display your shot shape? Simply put, even if the graphics are bad is the data I'm getting about my swing accurate?

The consensus on distance seems to involve several potential factors: 1) for some users, swinging indoors results in a unconsciously different swing and reduced distance compared to what they typically experience outdoors, and 2) the type of mat and any movement of the mat on the underlying floor may also impact distance. Those who have compared ST's distances to more expensive launch monitors typically report very similar results between the units.

I do not think there's a problem with distance. I used gc2 and my current set of club are fitted with trackman at modern golf

in terms of carry distance and spin rate, they are almost identical

Some people have problem with white driver tho, but my m1 seems to do fine.

I thought that there were distance issues but after finally finding my swing and having more rounds on tgc and on the sky trak range I can say that it is pretty much spot on. I can tell what kind of shot I've hit as soon as it leaves the club face and then to see it appear in the screen pretty much exactly how I thought it should be is pretty special. I have tried all sim options for sky trak including e6 although I have not spent much time on e6 so far. The golf club wins hands down for me. I find perfect golf struggles with short chips and putting although perfect golf is an amazing of game im not convinced about the sim option. E6 is ok but graphically no where near the golf club. Wgt is pretty good for the money but not a touch on tgc. Enjoy whatever you go for but I would suggest selling some bits and bobs you may have and then go for the golf club.

Well, echoing above there are no issues as far as i'm concerned with distance. This can easily be affected by the mat as I have seen (my mat vs. local range are consitently 20-25 yards different unless i can strike clean when on my mat, as it grabs the club and decelerates it). I have confidence in the skytrak all the way up to 3 wood. I can't say i've really hit driver with it though, so I can't comment on that.
If you can afford WGT, would you not plump for JNPG, aren't they the same ballpark costs? Or do you need to buy PC to run it too?

No issues with me on distance. I use game golf on the course so I know exactly how far each club goes. My skytrak is pretty much spot on with what I see irl

skytrak is spot on.

wgt is not multiplayer fyi...also some shots are off at a 45* angle. just depends on where your making your shot from.

Well we've had an optishot here for years and I've used my Skypro for 2 years here indoors.
The 2 club speeds seem to echo each other and my distances on the optishot are about right.

Now that I've got my Skytrack it appears as if the distances are about 10% shorter and the club head speed on the skytrak are about 10mph slower than what optishot and skypro indicate.
I've adjusted my Skytrak heigh which helped a little I think and my altitude setting is correct.

So, not happy about the distances indicated but shot shape and direction looks cock on.

I haven't noticed any distance issues with Skytrak. I thought I did to begin with, but found it was a combination of things like hitting off a mat and with my driver I switched from regular flex to stiff flex which was the cause of distance loss. But, I have better control.

I thought SkyTrak was short...but it appears it was all in the driver shot roll-outs. When it started raining in San Antonio the roll outs decreased. Now, it looks like summertime drought again. I bought the Optimal Shot excel calculator, put in my SkyTrak numbers and the carry distances are spot on. If short, it would have to be a skytrak hardware fault in measuring the transit speed of the ball through the entry and exit led lasers. If this depends on the power supply frequency to the house, I may have a small problem in that my frequency driven alarm clock has been gaining about 30 minutes each day, about 2%. Again, if depending on house power frequency, the skytrak would see my ball traveling roughly 2% slower than actual. Thinking as I type. LOL.

The skytrak uses timed camera images to calculate ball speed...no LED lasers. I have no idea what a frequency driver alarm clock is or has to do with Skytrak. Are you from outer space or am I? Where am I? I'm confused.

Well yeah, skytak is running off a battery, not 60 hertz. That thought had to occur to me. Meanwhile, camera versus led lasers. There are two laser frequencies...one for the red you spot the ball on. My understanding of the other is it is the color green. Look at the specs on the skytrak body. Anyway, when I found a patent application , I saw: 1) two lasers throwing out vertical sheets of light (the entry and exit) to measure speed and angles (right or left and vertical), and, 2) some additional lasers mounted in between the entry and exit pair, triggered by the "entry" laser, to measure spin. These little laser photons are reflected off the ball back into some sensors. Someone should sacrifice a skytrak to a teardown to make a youtube video...they do it to every new mobile phone. Frequency driven alarm clock...the kind you plug into the wall with an analog display...it has a small induction motor geared to the clock hands...the spinning speed of the motor is driven by the frequency of the house power.

i find my iron distances are spot on - its probably my swing tipping the mat for hybrid+ to driver. driver though doesnt seem too off for me. I find the side spin on the driver a bit excessive compared to my normal shot playing. Although some are definitely spot on that go across 3 towns on a slice but for me, irons are definitely very very close to being realistic if not exact.

I use WGT to practise approach shots mainly and thats it. So Closest to Pin, or Par 3s. Outside of that - its nice to have, but I would prefer to get one of the other Sims if i wanted to purchase/or had the hardware for it. I have chosen to invest in a set of new irons instead of a new laptop so my sim play will continue to be hold for a bit.
