  • trying to decide between e6 or perfect golf

    Hi

I have had a time finding info and reviews of people using e6 1.6 and perfect golf. Could people using either please give a quick response to what they like about what they have and do not like. A lot of the info I have found is either back when e6 was a demo and early on in perfect golf with putt issues. Thank you

Well, I have only had perfect golf for a couple of days, but so far I am very impressed. My only complaint is I have two wireless adapters, one for skytrak and one for internet and PG sometimes gets confused on which to use for internet. So then I have to disconnect the skytrak wifi until game starts and restart the skytrak sync. I am sure there must be a windows setting for this but I haven't figured it out yet. I have not used E6 so I can't comment on that. I was deciding between JNPG and TGC and ultimately decided that trying out JNPG for a year for $250 was better than $1000 upfront for TGC. I now have a year to decide if this is good enough and can always go TGC next year if I want. Also, there are a few user created courses already and should be a lot more once course forge is released. Overall, I am very impressed with all aspects of PG. Putting is hard to get used to on a sim, but I am not a great putter to begin with so take it with a grain of salt. It has seemed accurate for 8ft putt goes about to my screen and shows accurate with what the sim shows.

The 970 is old news. The gtx 1060 is the current model which is comparable. Just checked and ncix in Canada has a evga gtx 1060 on for $269. And a zotac 1060 for $279.

      I wouldn't mess around with a 950 or 970 at those prices.

I got the 3GB version 1060 which was 50 USD cheaper. Runs perfect. Not sure what Canada price would be

Alright thanks. I'm looking forward to your results because I'm so close to pulling the trigger on the same Asus gtx 950 strix.

I'm curious what about e6 made you put it on the list and what about tgc made you not consider it?

You can buy pg on steam to check how well your computer runs it.

tgc is not on my list because I am afraid my pc will not run it and at this time I cannot afford the buy or yearly option. I think it will be my pick in the future though once I have a better pc. E6 and perfect golf are on my list because I am sure the pc will run them and I can afford the yearly option. I am waiting for my graphics card to come in and then will download pg. I am pretty sure I will be going the perfect golf route, It is just so hard to make a decision when there is not that much info out there as of late. From what I read on other forums I think the putting issue is sorted on perfect golf but I am not 100% sure.

FWIW, my GTX 750ti runs TGC just fine. My projector is 720p so not as demanding as a 1080p projector would be.

i have only used e6 a few times at a friends house and the 1 thing i really like about it is the UI from the driving range... have never played a round but like the interface of the club head data etc...

Club head data is irrelevant with skytrak as it does not measure this.

I have JNPG and TGC. I like JNPG, but I believe the learning curve was greater with it than I did with TGC, but I'm not one that adapts well to change once I get used to something and I had TGC first so I was very comfortable with it and liked it before I purchased JNPG. There are some advantages with the different tee boxes available for play for people during the same round and the ability to remember registered players. I like the game play and feel it is more realistic than TGC at this point. I had gotten used to the "voice" on TGC so playing in pretty much silence is somewhat annoying with JNPG, but it would also allow you to have the ball game on or something else while playing your round. I like JNPG and will probably continue with my subscription for at least another year as the tour is pretty awesome as the one for TGC. Looking forward to a lot of indoor golf during the winter months! I don't remember what the specs are for my computer, but it was a custom build not quite top of the line, but pretty close.

I have all three, but not enough experience to give a good opinion. They each have their good options but also sometimes weird events. I have twice had out of bounds while landing and finishing on the fairway in e6. The funny thing is, with all three sims, I'm always updating.

Are people able to finish full rounds without any issues on perfect golf right now? I have also heard of steam causing issues as well. May be isolated though.

I am playing full rounds without issue once it has started. The only issue I have has to do with me using two wifi adapters. PG requires an internet connection and if I have my network and skytrak connected at the same time, I think it tries to use the skytrak for internet and won't connect and let me start a game. I believe there has got to be a Windows setting to fix this, but right now, I have to leave the skytrak wireless disconnected until I start the round. Then, I go to the sync app and connect Skytrak. Kind of annoying but don't think it is a PG problem.

I have all 3. Personally tgc wins hands down for me. E6 graphics are poor but I have only played it a hand full of times. I gave up on perfect golf as I had issues with chipping and putts not reading but I got it as soon as it was launched. I may give it another go when tgc tour takes a break. The practice tacitly is ok on e6 but that skytrak range is better in my opinion. If I get some time over the winter I will put some real time into e6 and perfect golf before deciding if to purchase the full license for tgc.

Could someone that has just recently played perfect golf answer whether the chipping and putting is working now and what exactly was the issue. I myself have had some issues with little chips or flop shots not working on wgt for me.

I have played it quite a bit in the last week. Flat chips (think punch shots) I don't believe read accurately but I don't think that is a PG issue as the skytrak driving range app does the same. Maybe I just don't know what it should be doing. Putting works great. I have an occasional misread but not many maybe 1/15 or 1/20. I think it helps on the short shots to place the ball a little before the laser. These are skytrak issues, not PG issues.

The issue definitely is a SkyTrak issue. TGC put out a fix that lets SkyTrak users invoke a correction for the "short chips problem"

Very happy with gameplay. A lot more than I thought I would honestly. I got it mostly for range application but started thinking more and more about sim, and I can honestly say it is great. Also, regarding the network connection issue I mentioned above, for any that are interested, I fixed the issue. I am using windows 7 but, I think it works in Win 10 as well. Please see this link: http://supertechman.blogspot.com/201...rough-one.html
This fixed the issue with internet issues while connected to skytrak.

Is it worth it to get the subscription for the user created courses on perfect golf?

I think so, it is only $50 more and there are about 30-40 more courses available with more in progress. Their course creation software is close to public release soon so that will only speed things up.

Thanks I did not realize there were that many. When you signed up through skytrak do they give you an access code to download the courses and a code to get into perfect golf simulation or does the license go on the skytrak like our game improvement license does

After you buy it, make sure it is in your skygolf account and connect through skytrak app. That will sync the license on your skytrak.

I still have putting issues with JNPG. I don't think I've ever made it thru 18 holes, or even 9 holes, without getting stuck unable to putt. This makes it pretty much an individual practice game. I'm not gonna have friends over and have this happen.

I also think the greens don't hold properly. I can come in with a nice high 9 iron, and it roles on the green more like a 5 iron. Shots out of sand traps play just like they were hit off the fairway, so you have to adjust for that.

I'm not a big fan of the controls in JNPG. There a bit clunky and settings aren't saved. I have to set stimp, tee boxes, gimmee distance, etc, every time I start. It's also kinda weird that I have to go thru a similar click-fest just to go to the driving range (should be just click on one button).

'Other than those things, I think it's pretty good.

Personally, I'm planning to hold off paying the subscription for 2017 until I hear that these things are fixed. Or I may think about footing for TGC.

TGC is really the way to go. Support, updates and a growing online userbase. Not to mention the ball physics just seem more like what you see on a real golf course,
