  • Somethings off!

SO I've had my skytrack now for about a week. Started off pretty good, and entered TGC Q school to start playing in what look like some fun tournaments along with the big boys. First round in Q school was a 70 despite the adjustments to short game etc. Now admittedly havn't worked on much in the last week, just been banging balls in q school to get a handicap and the swing isn't in great shape but finished the last four rounds of q school with something to the effect of 82,78,85,95( Guesses as I can't seem to go back and find my actual results currently) . The last round I played last night was one of utter frustration because despite flushing the hardware system square to my hitting mat, EVERYTHING, was squirting hard right. I would be aiming what I thought was 20 yards left of the fairway at times and it would still slice across and OB three times in a row on the final hole on the right. . IRL I am a drawer of the ball, my big miss in tourney play this year was the once a round snap hook that would ruin my competitive rounds. I'm a +.5 HDCP IRL so messing around with my new toy and shooting a 95 was both humbling and frustrating.

My plan is to take that laptop and skytrack to the range this weekend and see if the indoor results are correlating. Now I'm not going to blame the whole thing on the hardware or software, I can tell I'm not hitting the ball great yet after a 40 day or so layoff from real golf to sim golf.....but these differences are frustrating. Anyone experienced this and have advice.

Also, the mid back is a little sore this morning....I may have to rethink my mat situation real soon.

Hitting indoors and hitting off a mat can make a big difference. A good hitting matt is an investment needed to prevent sore back and wrist. I suggest http://www.dwquailgolf.com/mats_nets...ange-Golf-Mats

but there others out there similar - this is just the one I have. Now, hitting the ball just a little fat, at least for me, makes the ball go about 20 yards less and to the left. And of course the short game on the SIM takes a little getting use to - but it has really helped my real golf - I got up and down 4 times the last time I played real golf. (I generally play real 4 times a week but now down to 2 with time change and soon down to 1 or 0 depending winter) Hope this helps.

I would also suggest rebooting the PC and the SkyTrak also. I've ran into situations where the ball will only go straight for example, and I even aim right and it still goes straight. Once I reboot and reset everything it goes back to normal.

I've experienced issues on Skytrak and GC2 as well showing push draws as push slices.

it takes time to get a sim swing down mine was a couple month adjustment period as it i think accelerates or better word is amplifies flaws in your swing so be patient on this and work through the kinks it will be worth the effort for your IRL game.

Assuming you are hitting into an impact screen it is easy to verify the skytrak is working for this amount of error.

            1) first, identify the target line on your screen. then check where each shot hits the screen in the left/right direction compared to where the skytrak says it should have hit.

            2) second, observe how the ball rebounds of the screen. if it drops straight back (ie not much left or right) then the skytrak should be showing little draw/fade. A slice will cause the ball to spin off the screen to the left etc. A hard slice such as you describe the ball will be rebounding hard left off the screen. hit various draws, fades and straight shots and verify the ball rebound direction agrees with skytrak readings.

if what you see doesn't match the skytrak readings then something is wrong with the skytrak.

Flushing the hardware system square to the mat could be one of your problems. You need to use the alignment mode/dots. It's been posted before that some (including myself) have noticed the alignment dots are not square with the body of the skytrak. I have tested mine at the range and the alignment dots are what gives accurate shot display.

I couldn't use the alignment dots to set mine up. Using those causes all shots to be missed as well. My skytrak device has to be set up to the right of the target line in order for my shots to be accurate. I can't set up flush or via the alignment dots. I've heard others with the same issue as mine.
