Weighing the advantages of GC2 vs. SkyTrak?

I have spent some time with the GC2 & have parted with my beloved SkyTrak. Hope the new owner enjoys it as much as I have.

The differences I have seen are
- GC2 reads higher launch angles with better spin. Highest I could remember is 52* on SkyTrak. I have had the GC2 less than a week and have gotten 65* LA on flops.
- GC2 does not miss shots. My SkyTrak rarely miss anything but a putt here & there.
-GC2 is built like a tank.
- SkyTrak has come a long way in the firmware and software/app department
- FS released an updated version of the Performance Fitting app this week and while it is pretty basic it will be great at the range.
- If you have a launch monitor buy a laser level... duh.. I'm so dumb sometimes.. make things way faster & I trust it because I can see it... Watch your eyes...

Loving the GC2.. Loved the SkyTrak.. Great products.. take the money difference and they definitely have a market to sell into..
TGC plays slightly different with GC2 than SkyTrak.. but simply awesome both ways

In Australia, GC2 isn't affordable for home use. I priced one at 50k.... Then got in contact with the local Flightscope distributors. They had a used Flightscope that I could buy for 7k I think it was... I'll stick to my skytrak... Cost me 2k ...

would cost more now with the exchange rate changing since I bought mine. But still cheaper than GC2

I have experience with both. In my opinion there is no real comparison. The GC2 is the superior machine! In fact, I owned a GC2 for about 6 years, and sold it. I bought a SkyTrac after reading reviews on this forum. I was not happy with the SkyTrac. It missed tons of shot... Even after trying numerous lighting sources. It was also nowhere near as accurate as the GC2. The SkyTrac read my yardages a bit longer than actual, and it only shows about half of the actual side spin or less. I also had a lot of connection issues to my PC with SkyTrac. I guess it boils down to what your expectations are. If you want a toy to have some fun with, the SkyTrac is fine. If you want accuracy and dependability, buy a GC2. You can pickup a good used GC2 for $3500 or less. The extra money is well worth it in my opinion. My opinion may be different if I had not owned a GC2 prior to SkyTrac, but the GC2 is far superior in so many ways. I now own another GC2 (thanks to Aeroburner) and I'm a happy camper again.

As for the ES16... I was able to hit some shots on it about two weeks ago. It seemed great! I was only able to hit about 15 shots with a driver and an 8 iron, but all appeared to be very accurate and there were no missed shots. The ES16 actually made me question my recent GC2 purchase, but I'm very happy with the GC2. I hear that Earnest Sports is diligently working on firmware and software to make the ES16 even better.

Looks like I got really lucky as well not having any Problems with my Skytrak. The beginning was bumpy but since the last two Firmware updates everything is fine.

The best thing with Skytrak is the support and a big thanks to Seth for being on this forum. The constant upgrades and listening to the constructive feedback can make this product great and continually advance the accuracy.

I had a few issues - more than most, living in Australia and not having the product officially being offered here. In the early days of having work around being able to get the app from the USA app store as it wasn't available on the Australian Appstore.

But thanks to Seth, everything has been sorted out and very quickly.

I have a p3pro now and don't use it much as the taping gets old very fast. I want a launch monitor to dial my in wedge yardage from 20 - 100 yards. Is the Skytrak accurate enough to do this?
Im Ok if the spin #'s are off as long as the yardage is accurate.

I have found the carry yardages to be very accurate on the SkyTrak. The Skills Assessment will really help with what you are looking for.

I also came from P3. The Skytrak is light years ahead of P3 on all fronts. I spent more time adjusting the P3 to get numbers that I thought were somewhat realistic than I did actually practicing.

I know about its shortcomings, but does the SkyTrak do anything better than the GC2? Like graphics, or software features, or sim play integration?

The Creative Golf 3D software for the GC2 has similar options as the SkyTrak skills challenges. I think it's $1200 though.

That's more than enough room for the gc2. You only need at much space as you need to swing, just like the skytrak.

I've seen a gc2 go for 4k a couple weeks ago on ebay. I would plan on at least that (and any PayPal fees, shipping or whatever), plus the 500 dollar transfer fee if you ever need to have it sent to foresight for work to be done.

I'm loving it since I got one last week after using the skytrak for a few years. The skytrak is great, but the short game just feels much more versatile to me with f2f. That is the biggest upside that I wanted and not disappointed at all.

No, no activation fee for the gc2 for tgc or anything else as far as I know. I had tgc from when I bought it with the skytrak and emailed protee that I wanted to transfer that to the gc2 and they send me the downloads I needed for the protee interface and gsx (both needed to run tgc on the gc2), then sent me a protee interface license key and a new tgc license key to enter when I requested it. All for no extra charge at all.

So that part is all free, you just have to buy the actual tgc game itself too if you haven't already obviously. So tack 1k on for that as well.

And forgot to add that you would need to buy a simple bluetooth adapter (like 10-15 bucks on Amazon) and an extension cord for that to your computer so you can have the adapter closer to the gc2 (another 10 bucks).

Assuming it will come with the power cord at least even if you got a used one.
