  • new router coming

Be getting a new router today and was wondering if anyone has already swapped routers yet and have any tips. The network name will be changing. My plan is to just turn off the old one and turn on the new one and turn on the skytrak. If it connects to Wi-Fi great. IF not, I guess it will be in direct mode and I will follow the steps I did way back when placing it in network mode. As a final solution I will have to clear the settings on the skytrak.

    The router is the https://www.amazon.com/asus-5300-rou...05300%20router

First off, that's a UFO, not a router. Second, I just did this to use a second router as an access point with a new SSID to make sure my Skytrak only connected to the access point. You will have to hold the pin button down inside one of the screw holes on the bottom of the skytrak (I don't remember how long you have to hold it). Then just go back through the original set up settings in the manual.

Yes it is crazy looking. This will give me gigabit from modem to router and then from router gigabit to TCG computer - both are hardwired. Will we see what happens.

Looks like some sort of bear trap, or IED or something. Be careful with that thing!

If you change network SSID's its not going to connect. You'll need to redo that connection settings by going into the app, having it directly connect with your ipad/laptop, then changing the settings.

As others have said if you are changing SSID names you will need to reconfigure all of your devices that connect to your wifi network. If you choose to use the same SSID and password you may or may nothave issues. As an IT guy I say change the SSID and Password across all of your devices. It's the most secure route.

Yep, I am in the IT game myself - I went with change SSID and password and gave everything could a static IP address. Did not have to "reset" the skytrak. just turned the skytrak on - it went into direct mode - used my Ipad to configure the skytrak with new SSID and after 44 seconds the skytrak was on the new network.

Have my work phone and personal phone and of course ipad on the new network. The only thing I have not done yet is I have some iDEvices that control some stuff in the house I need to move over. And there is the TiVo.
