Get this... worst of luck and timing, I Killed my SkyTrak with 1 hit ever.

I sit down at my computer just last night and ordered the new FMJ guard from in the other thread and then this morning I came into the office to hit a few balls and shanked the 3'rd shot testing a 5 hybrid right into the skytrak screen and it fell over backwards, never to work again. I am no golfer and my ball speeds are dismal, I hit a 7 iron 120 on a good day but still enjoy playing, "I know that is embarassing but I am ok with it" Now I get two red lights over one green and it appears to connect but no lasers come on. I even tried the alignment mode and neither come on. So i assume it is dead. The worst part is I bought it back in Aug. of 15 and only used it maybe 3 times and my screen when projector setup would not fit where I had originally planned and just this week realized I was now in a position to be able to use it so brought it to work so I could hit into a new spdr net in my office, It's a real bummer. It is like new and flawless other than the one ball hit you can see in my picture and it is broke !!. I feel so stupid, I even had it packed in the foam and original box to transport it as I always take immaculate care of my things. I probably only have hit 200 shots with it... I know of one of the golf stores in Louisville that had one unprotected in their hitting bay and I has assumed it was a bit more robust than to die at the first little hit. Kind of disappointed. Oh well I guess every once in a while you just get kicked.

Anyone have any ideas ?? How is skytrak repair on turnaround. ??

Try plugging it via USB and see if you can get it to respond.

I am not sure why but it has came back to life. Here is the sequence of events. Not that it was smart but this is what I did. I logged out of the app and back in a few times, turned the unit on and off a few times and nothing. Did the paperclip reset on the bottom a couple of times all the while trying to get it to come back on and act ready to go. I then deleted the app. and while reloading it I just for the he** of it toppled it over on it's face while sitting here on my hard surface desk just the opposite of how it fell backwards on that was on carpet. For some reason I tried connecting it to my iphone next and it worked and the lasers came back on. Turned the phone app off and tried the re-loaded ipad app and it works now too. I know it may not make sense but I think the topple over backwards upset the level sensors since Iread somewhere here a bit ago that the middle red light can be reason to check it for level and the toppling over front wise here on my desk might just have reversed out whatever happened with that toe hit into the unit that knocked it over backwards. Either way it seems to be back on track and matching perfectly with my current patheticly short indoor normal 7 iron hits so I am putting it up until my guard gets here. Back to a happier camper.

P.S. nothing is loose or ratteling inside so I am hoping for it to be long term fixed !!

I have put it up until you fill the send the batch of protection boxes out. I am not sure if it can or will protect against a hard shock but I am betting in my case that the new FMJ and it's 3 poing design will help with the also falling over backwards and in my case I think the hit in combination with falling over backwards messed up the level sensors and I see the new FMJ deal stopping that too. I know someone will shoot down my theory about the temporarily confused sensors but I think it is what happened.

P.S. get my FMJ shipped out !! I am grounding myself from playing with the skytrak until it arrives. I know a warning shot when I see one and I just got lucky. Here is a pic of my setup, My ipad is jacked into the tv behind the camera across the room.

Nice room and net, but when are you going to get a real mat? Hitting off those little raised strips above my feet would make me shank the h*ll out of it, too.

or just be cheap like me and use a hitting strip (I have a CCE) industrial velcroed down and find something to stand on a bit elevated. Honestly though, I hit a ton of balls without standing on anything and its not a big deal. Not many flat lies on the courses I play anyway.

Well that explains a lot. I bought the Ultimate Monster mat a couple years ago and recently went back to look at Optishot mats and BOOM!, no Monster mats anymore!

The net is a RUKKET SPDR and I could not be happier with it for my use in stopping golf balls. I was torn for a few days between it and spending the extra for a Net Return as they look like cadillac nets but I am very happy with this choice and wonder where I could have found value in spending 4 times the money on the Net Return. This net drops the balls mostly straight down and the extra netting bunched at the bottom bumps the good shots back slowly toward my hitting matt just right. I rarely compromise on a purchase like this and my philosophy usually is buy the best and never be disappointed, but in this case I got it right by spending the smaller amount of $.

I do have a 3'x5' ish Country Club Elite matt I bought back in the beginning when I got my whole setup but it was out in my home shop and the truck was full of snow until today so I improvised for a day or three, maybe take it in tomorrow but don't expect the FMJ for a few days. I may sneak a few shots in with my irons where I am less likely to kick a ball off the toe.

I did the same but it just would not record a hit.
I sent it away to be repaired.
Turns out it was a loose wire inside.
Got charged £50.

Mine was only used a few shots but still over a year old so out of warranty so I was likely to open it up and check it out before sending it in just in case I spotted something.
