  • E6 vs TGC2019

    Hey guys,
I recently purchased a used skytrak to use in my garage this winter. Now I am in the process of selecting software to play golf. Im between E6 and TGC 2019....Im wondering if anyone has had both and could tell me why you like E6 better? Or even if you like TGC better? Obviously TGC has alot more courses but what does E6 offer that beats them?

I will be running this on my laptop, for what its worth.

    Thanks!

I have TGC19 so maybe i'm biased, but I played the E6 connect demo. I think its criminal what they charge for it in comparison to TGC. Some aspects of the graphics are better, but they just doctored up their coureses with bright colored flowers and turned up the contrast.

The ball bounce is very unrealistic and the spin is ridiculous. TGC also has its issues but considering it's 1/3rd of the price, the only community, course builder, and no yearly fee its a no brainer.

      for uneekor

i have e6 on skytrack and liked it
and have used e 6 connected in a sim club

my preference is e6 connect but it’s expensive

I prefer the graphics to Tgc 2019 seam a little video gamey

i May call and try to get a refund or sell it and bite the bullet with e 6 connect

      still on the fence

E6 connect spin is completely unrealistic. If you like your ball spinning back 20 feet on every wedge shot then it may be for you.

I agree, I used the range for about an hour the other day in the demo.
The course play was OK but the spin is stupid and unrealistic.

I’m an E6 Connect player. You can’t compare the Demo to the full version graphics are fantastic in full version. Updates every month E6 Connect will improve with each update ball flight is realistic. I’m sure they will fix the spin on the greens. Also Speculation of a league next year. Price point is more expensive. But how many times will you have to purchase TGC I’m sure they will come out with a new version every year that you will have to purchase. Also how many updates do they do. If you Purchase E6 Connect at least you know you won’t have to buy a new version every few years.

I highly doubt we'd have to pay for TGC every year. the last cycle was a bunch of years and Trugolf charged people like $1500 to upgrade from E6 to Connect.

Connect is ok but the spin is not real and the price is way too high. If they offered all the courses for $2500 it would still be too high but at least a little more realistic to ask. They should be offering a yearly sub, they would have a huge community of players instead of a handful of people.

I do agree with you about the pricing. If they had just a yearly charge just for home sim users they would have a lot more players.

TGC19 is like $900 to buy outright. At the earliest it will be 3 years before a new version and they offer a discount to previous owners. E6's yearly fees are more expensive than the total cost of tgc.... Scramble mode is probably the best thing E6 has over tgc.

The bounce and spin are terrible, in my opinion. As I stated the graphics are better than TGC and worse than TGC depending on what you're comparing. Before I played the demo looking at pictures I thought E6 graphics were much better, after the demo I don't really think they are better than TGC other than the contrast is jacked up and bright flowers everywhere.

E6 graphics are fine just not as great as i expected.. I was expecting them too be much better than TGC19 from pictures, but when I played it; they were probably about equal. They both have faults.

E6 Connect is a viable competitor to TGC2019 for SkyTrak users, as they (we) get the sweetheart deal of skipping the $2,500 up-front price. So you pay only $300 or $600/yr (depending on how many courses you want), and from what I've seen, the UI is more intuitive, the shot delay is shorter, and the company seems responsive to improving it rapidly and listening to their users.

What you'd be giving up is access to thousands of additional courses in TGC (maybe a couple hundred really good ones), being able to create courses yourself or pay someone to do you local course, and active online tournaments (TruGolf is working towards that). 2020 will be an interesting year in this space.

GungHoGolf - Ron, you're right about that... All of the stored data in E6 looks appealing to me too and that option to purchase outright would be interesting if they offer some type of coupons/discounts at different times of the year. Bring it down closer to $1,500 - $1,700 one-time and it's getting more attractive but still not comparable to TGC one time for $900. I would probably never rent it, that seems like too much for me... and I hope they have similar pricing for ProTee interface as they do for SkyTrak? Any word on that SkyTrak-SkyGolf

I have a ProTee system and both e6 and TGC 2019 software. I have only the basic 15 course pack with e6. There are two Par 3 courses within the 15, so options are really limited. My wife plays and I am a short hitter. There are only 6 courses that have tees shorter than 5,500 yards for women and only 11 with tees that I can play comfortably (under 6,500 yards). So it is not just how many courses are available, but how many are playable for you.

                e6
Advantages - Easy Match Setup, More Players Allowed (I think up to 8), Scramble Mode, Boost Mode, Better Practice Modes, Easier Game Controls/Options, Better Computer Putt-Out Options

                TGC 2019
Advantages - Tons of Playable Courses, Better Graphics
Disadvantages - Four Player Limit, Match Setup / Adding Players Not as Easy, Fewer Game Options (no Scramble Mode), Weird Drop Logic (from Hazards, etc.)

I play TGC 2019 most of the time because of the variety of courses, most of the disadvantages I can live with. When my wife invites her friends over, she plays e6 and uses Boost.

If I could change one thing about TGC 2019 it would be with setting up matches. This comment addresses the basic setup, having more players, and adding the scramble mode.

My e6 subscription for the year is about to expire and I'm in a similar boat. I really like the CONNECT upgrade features and it's a great experience (the color saturation looks great on a projected screen).

E6 does not feature a lot of courses but ask yourself if you could play 100k+ courses in your life. I play Bay Hill, Cabo, and will mix in a Korean course or the Ocean Par 3 and I'm good. I'm not kidding myself into thinking I could design a course worth playing when I could actually be playing a different course.

                    My two jeon for you.

Here is me playing the 4 par 3 holes at Kapalua with E6 Connect on PC, using the Mevo+ LM:

I think the ball physics are better than TGC19. The UI is certainly more intuitive.

Played 2 rounds on the demo today and had an enjoyable time. The greens are so damn slow though. I put it on 10 stimp to tame the spin issue and it played pretty good but putting was horribly slow even at 10 stimp...
The chipping games are pretty great also. I spent about half an hour just trying to get 3 in a row inside 3 feet from the different distances
couple tweaks and the game could be pretty solid
