No, I think it is more than enough based off of posts here, I'm just wondering why the i7 would add something additional than what a good i5 could handle. If you look at the spec recommended by zmax, it includes an i5 and a weaker video card than the 970.

A laptop might sound ideal, but a laptop graphics adapter has a lot less graphics processing power than a PC version of the same.
Although every might run OK, we do not recommend using a Laptop to run TGC.

This may sound crazy. I am in the middle of my build, I have the hitting and putting sensors in place. I have a permanent build and before I close the floor up I thought I would try and see if the sensors are working.
I do not know how to hook the sensor up to the computer. Can anyone help?

MikeMyers The sensor mat has 2 cables. One power cable and one serial data cable.
If you purchased a package you should have received a Serial to USB converter. Use this converter to connect the sensor mat to the PC.Comment

OK, so I'm sure this has probably been asked and answered before but instead of searching all the threads thought I would take the lazy man's approach and ask again.
I'm gearing up for the SkyTrak/TGC combo and need to purchase a desktop. Who/where has the best system for the best price? I don't want to build a computer, just have one sent to me plug it in connect a few wires and play. TIA.Comment

Yeah, you're taking the lazy approach alright.
Technology changes all the time. People contribute to this forum from all over the globe. I could point you to my local computer shop, but I'm in Europe.
Do some research. Be aware that certain technologies will be of greater benefit than others. A solid state hard drive has performance benefits. More RAM, to a point, will also speed things up.
Video card performance is a very important part of getting the maximum image potential out of the sim program. New video cards are coming out all the time.
What kind of audio performance are you looking for - surround sound or is stereo good enough?
Most of these things have been discussed somewhere in these forums. It takes a bit of work though.Comment

Your best bet is to find someplace you can pick and choose what to put into the computer. Then have someone build it for you. There are many places that do that.
I am not a computer expert by any stretch. But here is my suggestions.
850 watt power supply min.
770 GTX video card or better (780TI or 980 are good cards)
Not sure on the chip but you want something with at least 3.0 ghz. at the bare min. I use the 8520 AMD and it works great. I7 4770 is also a better one.
and as many fans as the case will hold. keep it cool. When I make a video using Twitch and have the webcam set up so you guys can see the SkyTrak unit after a few minutes of play my fans kick into warp speed. The thing sounds like it could lift off any second. And I have quiet fans that you can't even hear when I am just surfing. I am pretty sure it's the video card fans I hear. there is 3 fans on that. But under normal playing (no twitch) it is quiet. Once in a while (depending on the course) you will hear the fans pick up speed for a minute or two.
SSD is also a good choice.
8 GB ram is enough.
The rest is up to your personal preference.

Can someone chime in on whether or not this computer will work or what components i would need to change out? From what i've read, it looks like i need to upgrade the power supply. I believe the CPU and memory are ok, but not sure on the video card. This computer was built and used for GC2 and their software, but the person has since sold the GC2.
