  • A PC with these specs should be **plenty** right?

We've ordered pretty much everything for our garage golf sim except for the gaming PC. We're getting the Uneekor EYE XO and E6 Connect sim software. We certainly don't want to skimp on the gaming PC and want to be somewhat future-proofed. Here are the specs I'm looking at getting... which I believe should be more than ample for our purposes:

Intel i7 processor (should I care if it's 9th gen vs. 10th gen?)
    16 Gigs RAM
    RTX 2070 super graphics card
min 256 Gig SSD with min 1 TB hard drive
    Windows 10 Home

That should be plenty of horsepower right? Are there other specific details I should be looking out for when browsing through specs of potential purchases?

    Thanks!

That's overkill. You should be able to run most games at max setting in 1080p or 1440p. You might get into some trouble at 4k max settings, but for TGC 2019 and E6 you're fine.

That should play just fine. 9th vs 10th gen processor -- basically the prices for new don't REALLY drop for a while so you'll see a similar price for both. That said, I've been building with Ryzen 3600's processors lately and they are very nice for the price. Check out the buildapcsales subreddit for current deals.

You might see some deals on used graphics cards right now as supply went up as people prepare for the newest cards.

Its fine, not overkill IMO. Personally, I like to build what I can within my budget and I usually stretch on certain items if I percieve a better value.... Now... Given that the new GPU's are coming out I'd wait so you can get your hands on the new 3070, which is supposedly better than a 2080Ti for $500. My money would be there in a heart beat... Current prices of a 2070 Super are higher than that.

I’d go with a 512 gb ssd minimum though, everything else looks great..

We're actually considering just going with only a 1 TB SSD and no hard drive at all now. The PC will almost exclusively be used for the golf sim with a small chance our son might use it for other games at some point in the future. I figure 1 TB will do.

If you can wait, why not go for the 3070 when it comes out and be more future proofed? I agree that a 3070 is overkill, but when the 3070 on paper is the same or very close to last years top GPU how can you go wrong with waiting.

I didn't actually buy it, but that system was $1800 CDN from Dell.
          Working...
