I'll be getting a new computer as part of my simulator set-up (GC2 with TGC). I'm currently planning an i7 4970 3.6Ghz quad core processor, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, nVidia GTX 970 4GB video card and a 750W power supply. I have a choice of Windows 7, 8 and 10. Is there a best choice for a PC that will really only be used for the golf simulator?

Which OS for a New Computer?

Main reason is that it is very stable and has been used for a long time now, also it doesn't have a lot of extra overhead in the OS. As long as it's Windows 7 64bit, I don't see any reason to jump to Windows 10 unless TGC somehow will be optimized for the newer OS (which seems unlikely..). Windows 8.1 is definitely a no as it is just like Windows Vista before Windows 7, a dud.

I also agree with Win7 64bit -
Win 8 - not worth it unless you want to use a touch screen monitor
Win 10 is better than Win 8 but still way to new for me to use on my golf sim pc
It looks like a few guys are already using Win 10 and I'm sure there is a lot using Win 8
I think when TGC starts taking advantage of the new version of DirectX on Win 10 it will be worth it
