Building a Protee Golf Simulator Computer

My new GTX 670 arrived today. Will try to get SLI to work.

Dax was right. What a pain in the a.... Besides, that it turns out my motherboard only supported AMD's Crossfire. No support for Nvidia's SLI.

HB just updated their feature requests status. Crossfire/SLI made it on the list but in there as low priority. Good news is there's hope.

Question now is should I dump my Nvidia cards for two AMD cards or just build a new PC with SLI capable(16X2)?

Upgraded to Win8.1 64 bit today. Clean install on a 500 gig SSD. Just finished installing Protee and tweaking the interface now.

Nice. Btw, I overclocked my GTX 670 by 100mhz and got about 6 more fps. Not bad.

2 Quick questions...
1) CPUs: Is there a big enough benefit worth the extra cost between the AMD FX-6300 and the AMD FX-8350 processors?

2) Video Cards: There are some good deals out there on the Radeon video cards, how do they compare to the GeForce GTX? Which series would be comparable to the GeForce GTX 670,770?
(Is the Radeon R9 270X Gaming, any good - otherwise looking at the MSI Radeon R9 290 Gaming 4gb)

1: yes. Go with the 8350.

2: go with the R9 290, which is in between a 770 and a 780. Use the HW compare link in the first post of this thread to see for yourself.

I'm curious Z. I need to get a new PC. The published computer specs are far below the above I believe. What is the benefit of going with the above and what is the drawback with going the minimum route?

Going with my recommended above, you can run TGC in high detail with object at 3 or more. Going with the minimum. You'll be playing at low detail or not playing at all.

Texel rate is probably the biggest factor.

If going with the GTX seriously consider the 970 instead, as bang for your buck goes to the 970 especially if it can do 4k in the future (not tested from what I have read)

TGC will do 4K if you have a monitor or projector that will support it.

The unfortunate thing at the moment is that 4k seems to be in the home theatre environment only and does not have the lumens to support a golf sim. Also 4k is over the top price wise for the cost. I'm hoping one year for a more affordable version at least that could make IT worthwhile for a golf sim.
