I played 18 online with the new computer today. Graphics detail at max and 1080p full screen resolution. We played Autumn Hills 2013. Game play was flawless. Both CPU and graphics card are still at stock speeds.

Also noticed my cameras. Looked a little brighter. Not sure why. Windows 8.1 maybe. This Asus motherboard is pretty cool. 3 separate USB controllers built in. I didn't even need to use the two USB PCI cards.

So, to pick this up, I am also making my parts list for my new desktop to run all my future sim needs. I found this information on another site, but it is very helpful. I will share it here in the event that anyone else is also considering a modern build.

I'm about to get the Protee ELP system and I'm planning on using my work laptop so I don't have to buy a new one. I know that laptops are usually frowned upon for this, but this is a high end mobile CAD station. The only inadequacy would be having a single core processor and 2 USB buses. It has the following:
i7-3740QM CPU @ 2.7 GHz
16 GB Ram
NVIDIA Quadro K2000M graphics card with 9920 MB of total graphics memory

Will I have any problems?

The i7 is fine. I'm not so sure about the graphics card. How many USB ports total? 2 separate USB controllers? Its worth a try. If it doesn't well, then you'll have to build a desktop.

I have 2 PCI USB cards each with 2 USB ports. 1 card is USB 2.0 and the other is USB 3.0.

What if I were to say, building a computer doesn't come naturally to me. Do I get laughed off the forums?

Assuming I am allowed to ask more questions..I am having a hard time finding the computer requirements on the website. Does anyone have that handy?

Can I buy a cheap PC with the min requirements? Downsides to that option?

The price for the zmax build is over what i was hoping to spend, but not outlandish. Just worried about my skills putting the monster together if that is the most cost effective option.

My build is a Sim PC that will hopefully handle the future stuff. You can certainly build one for much cheaper. You can also disregard the ssd and just go with a regular 7200 rpm HD or even a hybrid HD.

You could also switch the video card out to save money. A gtx 560 or 570 would be fine too. Should run Protee at medium detail fine.

The specs for my old PC ran Protee at medium with no problems.

I don't like buying cheap PCs. You end up upgrading the PS, video, ram, etc...

Do you think you can run full graphics with a GTX650?

I don't think so. The number 50 is the key. Bubs has this card I believe and he had to reduce graphics to medium. Check with him to confirm.

I will be continuing to look into this. My hope was I could get a stock dell alienware or similar brand that could handle the system.. Not so much cheap - but with little assembly required.
