After getting a golfsmith gc2 however long ago, I have finally moved into a home wit a 12ft ceiling in the garage and I have my half (per wife) to go at it. I was initially going to get a allsports mini bay narrow, however I am thinking about maybe just building one custom. Not totally a money decision, but it is hard to pay $1400 for fittings and black cover.
so here are my limitations:
i cannot get a 10ft enclosure in my half. I am really looking at a 9'6 cage max size. 9' screen?
i am cool with 4:3, but I have the height, would it help to be 9' tall instead of 8ft for higher loft shots? I can run a black strip over the top of screen that is blank for looks.
projector is a major thing I can't get info on. I want to do ceiling, but my garage door opener is dead center and in the area(double garage with 2 doors). I will confirm my size tomorrow from screen to opener, but I may need to go really short throw
since in garage and daylight coming in with door open, what the hell is deal eith lumens? The benq 2200 throws me off. I am looking at benq2050, optima x305, and optima GT or viewsonic one. I don't want to double post in projectors section but I am really struggling with what projector to get. Again, is benq too far, I will have numbers soon.
do I just hang screen? Should somehing be behind the screen? Like moving blankets etc to dampen bounce back and help image?
how far back from screen is ideal to hit from? Having a hard time laying this out. I do have a hosel rocket miss when working on swing so I want to be close enough for that but far enough to be comfortable.
i need to be able to move the enclosure off the wall once a blue moon as my electrical panel is on that wall, it should be light enough to slide out a little to get there?
what is distance from wall screen should be? I read 18"?
i have a tv stand with flatscreen and computer to be in front of where I hit, gc2, mats, so in my mind I am enclosure, screen, flooring, and projector away from being done. Am I missing anything?
Thanks guys I am looking forward to sharing pics as it goes, probably asking a lot of questions as it goes, and finally joining the home golf sim community!
