  • SQ Beta Screen Review

Just got the screen up today. Previously had a PR20 and Supertex.

Had the PR20 for about 1.5 years. It was a great quiet screen, but the image quality was lacking. You could definitely see the weave of the material on the image. Durability was decent. It did start to get that frayed look in my most impacted area, but I am guilty of firing some pretty beat up balls into it.

Only had the Supertex screen for about 3 months. Image quality was much improved over PR20 but I would say noise was a bit louder. Not bad, just a little more snap when the ball hit. The screen is still in great condition and I was very happy with it. I would have been happy with the Supertex if this Beta deal on the SQ screen did not pop up. Noise level was a main factor in my decision.

Par2pro SQ screen: Immediately out of the box you can tell it is different than other 2 materials. It has a very thick blanket-like feel to it. The weaves of the material are very tight and looks to be very high quality. I ordered raw material in a 10' x 11' size. (For anyone hanging a screen, I think raw is the way to go with tarp clips and ball bungees. My screen size is only 8'6" x 10'6". You can easily just fold the material back on itself and attach the tarp clip. It gives a very finished look and there is infinite adjustability. I also have the option of rolling the screen down should I get a wear mark in a certain spot). Image quality is great. I would say it is on par with the Supertex which I was very happy with. Noise level is as quiet or quieter than the PR20. This screens captures the best qualities of noise and image quality. I have only hit about 100 shots so far so I cannot speak to durability. Screen still looks mint so that is promising.

Thanks for the smooth transaction Cory. Very happy thus far.

Same with my SQ screen. I have hit a couple hundred shots and there is no visible evidence that the screen has been used. I hope this lasts!

My last screen, a poly-mesh screen from spectrum golf, showed wear from the very first ball strike. The supertex screen I had prior to that was much the same, it started showing wear almost instantly.

Great to hear guys! We were finding the same results with our testing as well - we sure hope this screen lasts as long as it appears!

Thank you for the great post and pics Timdm3. You are very welcome for the smooth transition

Shardak - great post and video review!

      Happy Golfing All!

Did you fold and sew the bottom edge or leave it raw?

Left it raw. Folded it myself on edges and used tarp clips to grab and tension. Very easy and tension is infinitely adjustable.

I too go the sq beta screen from Cory and have been super pleased with it. I had the supertex before hand with netting and comforter begin it.
I elected to have the finished screen with side trim and upper foam padding as well. I wanted a professional finished look to my new build in my basement.
From the initial consultation over the phone( and Cory took quite some time out of his day to talk with me as I had so many questions from all my research and he answered all of them) to the final product he was super helpful and they sent me a great product. The measurement s and detail were right on and installation was easy.
I have used the screen mostly to watch tv and movies and it has been great. With regard to golf, definitely quieter than the previous screen I had. There are occasional indents where the ball hits but easily smooths out with the hand. Very pleased so far. I also bought some backup screen from the mill raw and I worry them when the time comes to possibly replace the SQ screen, I will need to figure out how to do the Velcro on it to finish like my current one.
Cory and company are great to work with and make a great product and can be customized to any level. .

That is one of the projectors I am considering. May I ask, what made it the right one for you ?

Research I did about a year and a half ago was either between the 1080 Optoma and the Ben Q and I ended up getting a really good deal from the benq website and choose that that version

                        Very nice build Ericft !

Could I ask what kind of "ropes" you use to tied up the screen on the sides and the top please ?

I got bungee cords from par2pro. Short ones for the top and longer ones for the sides as the screen was smaller than the width of the room. Cory and I decided that it would be best to use less screens and longer bungees as opposed to wider screen and short bungees. The custom side trim covered the bungees anyway to frame out the picture.

                            Thank you

One more question, I have trouble with shank shot and balls going on the right of the screen UNDER my custom side trim (the ball is very slowed but can still go behind and thats boring me to get them back). Could I ask how you fix yours please ?

My thick custom side trim hangs 1” on the floor and that prevents that.
