  • Has anyone tried the 9oz Supertex Screens?

Anyone tried the 9oz Supertex Screens? They are for sale on ebay and amazon I just cant find a single review. I am wanting a screen with hemmed pockets top and bottom not grommets like these. I am looking for 10ft by 9 ft size and at right at 200$ shipped it seems like a pretty good deal. I am not going to be watching movies on it as I have a dedicated theater also, this is strictly for stoping golf balls and showing a decent simulator image.

Time will tell, but it seems that the impact screen is a consumable part. From first impression, I would not say either are inferior to the other.
Sounds like the exact same story as me as well with the blowing some holes through my HQ after a year and now going with the supertex. Been very happy with it thus far

Ironstrokes -Did you go with the 9oz or the heavy mesh Supertex

OK...final installation compete and I am quite happy. I even played my first round in several months on TGC with the new supertex. I did use an iron on steam med heat to get out all the shipping wrinkles and it worked great. It was very easy with the screen hanging.

Overall, it looks better than my HQ2 raw that I hemmed myself.

I agree I really like the product so far and it has some rebounding to it and reshapes a ball strike really well, I bought two of them for 150 each and this was actually one of the least expensive products with great quality that was purchased two thumbs up so far

So I too got a hole half way up my screen, it but the hole didn't go through to the back side 2nd layer. I still need to do something because its smack dab in the middle where all my 8-9 iron shots go.

Where is everyone buying these supertex screens from? Is there anything bigger than 144x108? I need something closer to 160x120

google supertex golf screen and it will take you to their website. It says it can go up to 120 wide and then probably up to any length you want.

Mine just arrived from Amazon. VERY impressed thus far. I have not seen HQ in person, but the image here is awesome. Looks like it may be quiet as well.

Regrettably, it is not widescreen. I knew that going in--just made an impulse buy as the price was right. I will probably return it, as I'm working with Chad from Spectrum directly right now.

They are going to custom cut me something in 14 x 8 widecreen.

As they note, screens are a CONSUMABLE/WEAR item. Sort of like golf clubs, or magazines in shooting. That becomes a lot harder to swallow when you're dropping over $1,500 for an HQ.

F paying over a grand for an impact screen that sounds like a bass drum. I also like their mounting system (with a triple hem around it instead of grommets). Apparently, it reduces bounce-back to near zero. I will report when I have my new 14 x 8, but this looks very promising.

I have a feeling that Spectrum is going to be a very big player in the industry very soon.

How is the sound that is my biggest concern. I'm due for a new screen and I'm buying a gc2 for my sim andI'm tapped out. My frame is 8x10 so I would need the same size for it. It is 3/4 emt. So how does it actually install?. Sounds like it's adjustable. Thanks.

I have no issues with sound on this I have not owned all screens on the market but had a different brand before and I thinks its quieter then the other I also bought an extra for 150 each and still am money ahead

I also bought two. One hanging model that is up now. I had to slit the sides to get it properly tensioned. After realizing this, I bought one with the strap ties for when the first wears out. I've been quite happy with it.

How does this install exactly. I'm ready to pull the trigger on this. The screen has to resized at bit for the same price which I thought was really cool of them to do. They said there's an insert for 3/4 pvc pipe that get goes in there then it connects to the frame?? How many pvc would I need?? 4 one for each side I'm assuming??

yes that is correct, I modified mine away from the instructions though as I did not like there design for strength of the top bar, and tension to the screen went to a clamp and bungee for the sides and bottom

I currently use three pieces of PVC, one for each side and one at the top. The problem is, you can only pull on the pvc in three locations on the side and they are not directly across from each other. So I still end up with waves no matter how much tension is on there. I've already bought the home depot tarp clips and plan to change to these with bungees. Just been too lazy to do so.

Interesting because they say how there are no waves on the screen once it's adjusted correctly. I did see that there is only 12 straps 3 for each side. It would have been better to have 16 straps 4 for each side to prevent any waves and a better fit overall. I guess I just have to wait until I get it to see how it best fits. I will try to use 4 pvc pipes then strap it to the frame and see which works best. Does it sounds relatively quiet though? My wife is complaining..

I don't use one at the bottom. I have the top around my 1" EMT frame with foam insulation wrap. The sides are PVC with foam insulation wrap and I cut my own slits in the original hanging model and made my own ties. Videos I just posted in another thread were old and I didn't have the sides tensioned. Now it's better.

Maybe if you pull from all four sides, but with my setup i didn't want a solid piece of anything on the bottom. You never know when someone will hit that worm burner and ricochet somewhere.

Exactly. I cringe a little when I see pics of screens with something at the bottom.

Great suggestions. I was thinking of using 1 inch wood poles cut to size with foam insulation instead of pvc. Wood is more sturdy than pvc. Also I could cut more slits in the screen to strap it better than only having 3 on each side, but I'd be afraid it would void the 6 month warranty the screen comes with.
