  • Has anyone tried the 9oz Supertex Screens?

Anyone tried the 9oz Supertex Screens? They are for sale on ebay and amazon I just cant find a single review. I am wanting a screen with hemmed pockets top and bottom not grommets like these. I am looking for 10ft by 9 ft size and at right at 200$ shipped it seems like a pretty good deal. I am not going to be watching movies on it as I have a dedicated theater also, this is strictly for stoping golf balls and showing a decent simulator image.

Was excited for the potential of the supertex screen but got mine in beginning of august (didnt play much in october) and now have a nice size hole in mine already in my wedge hitting area of the screen after basically just 3 months of me using it a normal amount (no where near 2 rounds a day I was using my HQ screen when I had it and that at least lasted me a whole year before I got a hole). Have a net behind it as well. Am using pro v1x balls, but was using the same with the HQ that last 4 times longer with a whole lot more play.

Contacted spectrum and sent some pictures at their request and asked if there was any preferred method of patching it or anything they could do to help me out, but nothing really they could do I guess and he suggested I try the poly screen that should last a bit longer.

So I might give the poly a go for a few bucks more and see how it does and report back here on forums as well down the line with my comparison and on its durability . The $150 bucks was a great price for the supertex, but 3 months of use is not great at all in the sim world. And putting up a new screen 3 or 4 times a year doesnt sound like too much fun. So looks like the search continues for me for now for the screen that has the perfect mix of durability and price. Sooner or later I might end up trying them all and then ill have one hell of a comparison post for everyone haha

Im sure others may have had some better luck with it then me, but just my 2 cents. Just for extra info to anyone wondering, my gap and sand wedge usually spins in the 9 to 11 thousand rpm area (thats where the hole was around on my screen)

I kept my HQ2 with a hole up and put the supertex in front. I hope this helps. I also have archery netting up.

I keep telling you guys to get the screen at customdesigngolf.com. I just bought another one got it the mail today. it cost me 299.00 plus shipping. I've had my old one for 3 years now no holes what so ever. it is showing some wear now but what I'm gonna do is lay the new one right over the old one so I get extra padding and hopefully a more quite sound when hit on. It's not that loud anyways but more quite is always better. . I was banging 150 mph ball speed with my driver yesterday on my old screen and it still held up strong. Contact John at Custom and tell him tony from Las Vegas referred you and you can get it for 299.00 trust me guys it's the best screen out there for the price and durability and picture quality.

Yea, read you post earlier too before I put up mine and started looking at that screen immediately. That actually might be the next one I try now. Definitely love the sounds of 3 years, hell Ill take 2 and be super happy.

Yea in hindsight I probably should have done the same but waited way to long on my HQ to replace it and the hole was huge at that point, so didn't think it would do much good leaving it up behind it. Plus I got the hole pretty much in the same spot on the hq screen as I did the supertex, so wouldnt have been much protection in that area anyway with the HQ backing it up. Hope it works out for you though, at least hope you get a year or so out of it as I was hoping for. keep us posted down the line.

I just put up the new screen form customdesigngolf right over my old one and it was very easy to do, in fact I did it myself with no help. Boy what a difference, not only did it fit like a glove but no bounce back better cushion and more quite that before. It's a great screen. For those of you already purchased a supertex, use as long as you can and get this one. Belive me when I say you won't be dissapointed. Good luck guys and hit them well... Regards....

Sorry Tony I am sure its a good screen and I would consider it if the value was there for me but 299 is for a screen that still needs to be watered and grow bigger for a bit longer i am running 156 x 120 which is 899 on this website if you can get me that screen for 299 out of your vendor let me know i will buy it i can see why its only 299 now it would take two of those to fill my sim screen, my supertex was 159 and this is going on over 6 months old and shows no sign of wear , I bought three of these at that price and will still be 450 in the black in three years.

Glad to hear your supertex is holding on better than mine, just beware though, I literally saw no wear on mine as well and then hit a random wedge as I always do and boom a hole. Seems to be all or nothing with this screen for me.

The 6 month mark was all I was hoping to at least get out of this screen and anything beyond that would have been a bonus. So you're ahead of the game with it in my book now. But 3 months for me was very disappointing.

Iron i do not know what kind of protection you have behind the screen but I have layered this out with a old HQ screen then moving pads then a 5 inch memory foam i think that is keeping a full powered shot ever to have the ability to punch through. but knock on wood if not i will pull one out of the closet and layer it more

Can you tell me how you hung the memory foam behind the screen and is it the entire size of the screen or concentrated in the center hitting area?

I got a lightly used supertex screen with my system last year and ordered a new one for backup. This used one has lasted a year and still going..
new one is in storage.. :-)

I have a net behind mine is all right now and tightened to be a little tighter than the screen in hopes the screen would take less punishment, but may have to add a little extra like you have with the blankets and foam. Was hoping I didn't have to do all that but definitely on my list to try now.

Wasn't sure if would make that big of a difference having all that behind it other than to reduce bounce back and maybe sound too. Just figured if i put the screen with nothing behind it or against wall or anything in between it would still cause a hole in the wedge area as the rpms are so high and the screen is going to take the brunt of that even if the Net/foam and all was behind it stopping it as well. Eventually the ball has to be stopped by something and it's still spinning against the screen material even with stuff behind it.
But obviously it seems to be working nicely for you so far, so may give that a go

And I did love the picture I got on the super excited screen, looked just as good as the hq in my eyes. That quick hole I got is just souring me on it right now as I'm sure it would others. Still may try their poly screen down the line and see how it goes, but definitely gonna check out my options again.

I wish! I need your secrets too haha. Do you have foam/blankets behind yours as well? Curious if you guys are spinning the wedges in that 11k range as well? Just asking so when i give these things a go myself that I know it has stood up to all that same punishment and will give me some more confidence with it. Thanks

Hahaha probably, probably could use a little slowing down too so the back doesn't take as much of a punishment.....we'll call that my LAST option to fix this hole in my screens problem though haha

I have a full net covering the back of the screen which I guess is helping absorb the shot. I don't use memory foam or anything else, it's about 10 inches from the back wall, no issues...
