  • Side Netting question

Attached is my current golf sim setup. I am looking to eventually get a projector screen but for now I am looking to get some netting to hang possibly on a track that will take a major shank and project the rest of my garage. You can notice the nice hole to the right side of the net from a missed driver shot. I know the net return has side netting that I can attach but as mentioned above I will be replacing that with a projector so I would hope to incorporate what I will be doing to my future projector screen. I have checked several builds and some I see are projector screens with nets on the side all as one. For those how long is the net on each side? What is the typical distance needed behind the net? 1 foot? My future dimensions will be 12 x10x9.5. Also I am not against hanging large curtains either just need to know what material people use or recommend

Hey! I would go buy a 12'x9' heavy duty canvas drop cloth from Home Depot. It's 30$ or less. I am using this as my impact screen until mine comes in from P2P. It will handle shanks with no problem. Hope this helps!

There is some affordable netting on the bay that I've ordered. I will be putting it behind my impact panel. Then on the ceiling I ordered curtain tracks so I can pull the side nets back and forth. The tracks and hardware I got from IKEA. Just look for Kvartal.

I use black canvas tarp. As my sides..... Each side is a 6 x 10 and handles shanks with no problem . I think it also makes my projected image brighter or makes it "pop" you can see pictures in the sim picture thread (click on my name)

I have nets set up front to catch the ball and right for shanks. Some absolute beginners are going to be hitting in due course including a 10 year old, all right handers. The front net is big enough to catch a major hook. Do I need a left net? The only way a ball will go that way is a shank off the back of the hosel.

In golf, there are no certainties... I would put a net on the left side as well, just in case. It's sort of like the old FRAM oil filter commercial. You can pay me now, or you can pay me later...
