Bed Flat Sheet as temporary Impact Screen?

I'll be splashing out on a decent projector/impact screen in a couple of months or so but, in the meantime, I need a temporary solution... I already own this hitting net http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...ilpage_o02_s00 ... so my question is - Is there any reason a flat sheet (bedding) tied to this net won't work as a temporary solution? I wouldn't have thought the impact of a golf ball would rip or make holes in a bed sheet... or would it?

Might have better luck with a heavy painters tarp. I used one for a while before i got pr20. It worked pretty well, but it was right up against a net. Still developed a hole though.

I am using a mesh tarp from harbor freight http://m.harborfreight.com/12-ft-x-1...arp-60584.html

With an old fitted bed sheet in front of the tarp. Sheet is hanging right on the tarp, so the impact is eaten up by the tarp, then the balls generally roll right down into the elastic "pocket" at the bottom of the sheet. Works nicely until I get the room built.

I had this same problem waiting for an HQ2 screen from P2P. I am currently using a "Heavy Duty canvas painters cloth" 12' x 9' for $30.00 from home depot. This actually is working quite well. I have been playing on it for 6 weeks and there is zero signs of wear on the screen, and the projector image doesn't look too terrible. I hit real balls into the screen from 8' away. For $30.00 this is a great solution while you are making other arrangements. hope this helps! The picture shown, shows the canvas cloth. Oh, i used slick little tarp clips that keep the screen taught.

Curious how long you used the Painters cloth? Looking at doing this as well.

I'm in temp garage solution phase as well. Have the Skytrak, OPTOMA projector, DIY platform, and DIY 1.5 PVC frame on casters with a Harborfreight mesh tarp with bungee balls and a queen flat bed sheet over the tarp using tarp clips from HD to keep bed sheet relatively taught. I've hit a boat load of real balls with driver and wedges into it and have had no punctures through bed sheet yet. . Got cheap white Utopia bed sheet on Amazon. The bed sheet actually has done a descent job minimizing bounce back as I only have it attached at top and upper half of both sides. Balls are dropping fairly straight down unless its a high wedge shot. Also using foam gym tiles from HD to minimize bounce off floor. Not ideal by forum standards but I am having a blast simulating.

in my first sim I used a bedsheet with a heavy moving blanket directly behind it for about a year 200-300 balls a week until it finally tore. BTW currently using Supertex screen from spectrum golf, again with the blanket behind it, in my new sim, put a hole in that "commercial grade" screen in 4 months lol

I started out on a queen size sheet, folded in once, and a couple of moving blankets. It was small but held up just fine, no holes or anything. The big issue was the noise it produced upon ball impact. Using regular golf balls, the screen impact felt louder than club-ball impact.

Yeah, the supertex is not very durable. Looks good at first but wears really quickly.

Wbond.....I agree. Although i have found that the supertex does project a beautiful picture and has minimal bounce back.
its a bit if an inconvenience, but after the first hole...I just flipped the screen to get another ? months out of the other side. I guess you get what u pay for. AI believe I paid around135 last year... it's a respectable entry level screen, but I'll probably upgrade this year after the other side finally breaks thru. lol

Get one of the direct from mill screens. He has material left. Image is better than supertex and the durability is outstanding.

Not to hijack the thread, but for the posters above who are using the supertex screen, what kind of tips do you have for getting it to sit a little flatter? I have the 9x9 supertex with all the straps pulled pretty tight except for the bottom two. (So in other words 6 of the 8 straps are pulled rather tight). I have a 1-inch PVC pipe in the bottom sleeve. It's not terrible, but still have a couple "waves" in my image.

I have heard of people filling that pipe with sand to create a little more weight. I might try that. I have also heard of not using any side tension at all and only using the top straps. I may try that as well.

Any other tips? Much appreciated.

*My build is not complete yet so I haven't actually hit any balls into it yet*
