  • Buy Impact Screen Fabric Directly from Mill

As a cost sensitive person attempting to build a high quality simulator, I realized purchasing the correct impact screen is critical to both the simulator's overall performance and it's price tag. It should be affordable, durable, seamless, impact resistant, have minimal bounce back, low noise, and display HD quality images.

West Coast Netting, Par2Pro, Foresight, Carl's Place and others listed in various forum threads all sell screens but none actually manufacture them. Buying second hand increases cost and my goal to buy the highest quality materials at the best possible price can only be accomplished by purchasing direct from the mill that manufacturers the fabric.

After plenty of research I found the mill that's manufacturing the impact screen fabric for Foresight, Carl's Place and others. The mills highest quality impact screen fabric is a heavyweight knit polyester sold only in 120 inch x 40 yard rolls. The raw material costs $56/yard without shipping.

40 yards is clearly too much material for my simulator so I'm looking to get a group of us on the forum to split a roll.

Please advise any interest or questions.

  • I am new to this forum, are you taking any more orders on new material??

    • Not at the moment. We are waiting to see how many feet will actually be produced. Not every roll is exactly 40 yards. If any extra will advise.

        • Hi DBG. Any update on timeframes ?

          • Yes they produced it already. They said they will only ship us 152 yards for now that they oversold this run and won't have more until their next run which is in July. Worthy of noting they said during flame retardant testing it took 14 seconds for the flame to go out on its own when it should normally take only 2 seconds. They believe the slick finish they put on the fabric to reduce ball marks caused this. For my purposes I don't care as I'm not lighting the screen on fire. If anyone has a problem with it I can refund money or u can wait until the next run in July when they believe they can improve this. As far as being 48 yards short I'm gonna call tomorrow and try and whine for more but if they don't give us more than I will fill orders in order of payment and refund money from anyone who doesn't want to wait for the next run.

          • dbgolf72 So how many rolls does 152 yd's produce? When will you start shipping the screens?

            • At 152 yds, it looks like everybody above Daddio is good, and everyone below and including Daddio will miss out unless they will give dbgolf the extra material.

              • If you are going to be able to order more in July/August or have someone that wants refund I would be interested in Raw, approx 10x12 new material

                • Will be interesting then. I should be between Gene and Wigalo based on when I paid. I guess we'll see, dbgolf's the only one who knows when people actually paid.

                  • Yeah, I think the order paid is not the same order as the list you see......Some guys at top of the list did not actually pay until recently....for example, I paid 1/24.

I know I'm excited...can't wait to get my hands on the stuff.

                      • I need to get lucky. I'm getting holes in my supertex. Lasted about 1 yr and I don't play nearly the amount as some of the guys on here.

Perhaps they could make up for the shortage with old material?
