Fiberbuilt 1x4 strip info

I use two of those panels and i hit from the second one farthest from the screen. I don't have an issue with putting on tgc. It's probably only rolling on mine for about 18" or so. The farther back you go, the worse it could be for speed and the ball moving around.

I like the look better with the 4 panels, i may get two additional panels and some aluminum angle and do the same. Looks like all they do is screw it to the angle iron.

One more thing I noticed, the panel is advertised as 1' x 4'. However its only 46 inches long in total.

Each panel is 1' x 1', but when you attach them together the is some overlap in the puzzle-piece edges.

I was going to return my panel to get one without tee-holes (which is how I ordered it, but they shipped me the standard tee-hole version).

But after playing around with positioning, I am going to keep it.

If I put the Skytrak laser about 1 inch in front and slightly inside the tee, I can hit from both the embedded tee and the turf.

Pic attached that shows how far away I am getting reliable reads. This actually works better than tethered Tomahawk tees. The embedded tee never flies away. Tomohawk tees are a little tipsy on Fiberbuit. They do work, but the embedded rubber tee holder is better.

Thanks for this info, Shardak. I’m trying to decide between getting a fiber builtpanel to place next to my CCE as you have versus simply buying a full fiberbuilt mat. Roughly $500 difference, which is is lot. My CCE slides on the carpet with swings and requires replacing often. Any insight into whether the fiberbuilt might be any better? Or would you have done your exact same strategy over again? And are you still happy using that same laser light position to use both tee and fairway?

If the CCE slides on carpet, I would guess the fiberbuilt strip will do the same as it is lighter (and the bottom of it is hard plastic). I put grip tape down on my concrete floor to reduce the sliding and that works surprisingly well.

You may be better off with the full fiberbuilt mat. But check with them on the weight. They used to sell a very heavy rubber mat (nearly 100 pounds). I think the new fiberbuilt mat systems are more lightweight, so it may slide as well.

For me, I am happy with my setup and have no regrets about getting the strip by itself. The extra $400-$500 for basically a stance mat is not worth it IMO.

Yeah I had the same issue, the fiberbuilt site doesnt have a lot of good info on the differences. I assume nylon is the better material, but was not sure about the high-density version. I thought it might be more punishing to hit into, so I went with the standard nylon version.

I emailed Fiberbuilt a little while back regarding the material difference, they've stated that "Poly can leave a transfer on the club head where nylon will not". I ended up getting the nylon and have had zero transfer on the club.

I played my first TGC rounds on the fiberbuilt this weekend. Putting is fine with it. Slow putts read slower than a normal mat, so you have to hit them a bit harder. Putts outside 10 feet are the same, since at that speed the ball just skims over the fiberbuilt before it digs in. But with slow putts, the fiberbuilt does slow them down. Not too bad though.

Being able to hit flops out of a bunker wit the fiberbuilt is great.

Using a Skytrak... i'd started another thread a few weeks ago about Rollout with TGC and Skytrak. One user commented that his rollout problems ceased to exist after changing to a GC2. I was hopeful a change in my mat might also help significantly. Thanks!

Anybody knows the difference between the fairway grass and the nylon fairway grass? Also, how do the panels stick together? It there some kind of frame included?

I just spoke to Teresa at FB. She told me that a lot of information on their website is outdated, especially on their commercial site. They no longer make a poly grass for hitting mats. All of the fairway and rough hitting mats and fairway and rough grass panels are made from nylon which according to her is far superior in every regard.

She also told me that their hitting stations no longer use a cumbersome system of plastic and polystyrene panels connected by zip ties. On their commercial site they still show photos and instructions of this old system that they no longer sell.

If you want to see what the new base mounting system looks like, go to their consumer site, then go to the Hitting Mats section, and then select their 4 X 7 Performance Studio Golf Matt- Single Hitting if you are on a desktop or iPad, there will be a photo slide viewer. Use the arrows to skip forward until you see a photo of a black plastic underlayment with a person’s hand attaching a piece that interlocks 4 panels in the corners. No zip ties. No polystyrene. The base of all their hitting mats are now plastic panels connecting by these plastic locking inserts.


Looks super easy. Teresa told me that all of their consumer Performance mats can now be assembled or disassembled in just a few minutes.

I just ordered a 3 X 1 foot FB Fairway grass panel for $219. I was planning to insert it into a cutout that I would make in my existing hitting mat, but based on the previous posts in this thread, I think now I will just lay the hitting strip at the end of my existing mat closest to my GC2 & HMT like the photos above. This will give extended the size of my existing mat from 3 X 5 to 3 X 6.

I will would gladly pay the tariff again if needed. I love my Fiberbuilt. Practiced last night for about 30 minutes. Played 27 Par 3 holes. In the past with the CCE my back and elbows would be so sore.

Since my wife is a lefty and I'm normal, we sandwiched or FB strip between the two stance mats. We picked ours up at the end of 2016 for $187 US.

I've had a CCE mat for over a year now. While generally happy with it, the mat can be a bit punishing both on slightly fat shots and even on those rare shots where I actually hit down on the ball.
I've been looking at my options and after reading through this thread (and a few others), made the call to Fiberbuilt and ordered at 1x4 hitting strip. $249 delivered. Ordered it Wednesday and it showed up today!

Is is set next to my CCE, which is now just my 'stance mat'. I've taken a few swings and already can tell that it will be easier on my body - much less punishing on those slightly fat shots. I'm probably swinging a little freer as well, knowing that there's more give. Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread!
