I ordered a FB practice station from Costco and just opened it to see what it looks like. I can't really hit on it yet due to a wrist injury but decided to take a one hand swing using some nerf ball inside the house and with every swing I see a bunch of fiber coming off the hitting surface all over my carpet. I find it hard to believe that this thing is guaranteed for 300000 shots if that's the case. Is anybody seeing the same thing or did I just get a defective unit?

I think that is defective mat. I have had mine for maybe 3 or 4 months and I dont see any fibers coming off. -
Mine did not hold up that well. I am a high handicapper and so are my friends. I bought mine on Aug 9 and it has some fibers that are permanently smashed in front of the tee. Looks like where the ball would hit the matt if you topped it. I'll take a pic when I get home. I am going to see if they will replace it.Comment

When I first set mine up, I noticed a lot of fibers, and it worried me...but 6-8 months later that thing is still perfect....and I don't notice fibers flying around anymore.Comment

I've only had mine for about a week and notice a few stray fibers after I hit. I'm assuming they will cover the mat if it wears out prematurely considering the 300K shots is part of their advertising.

I have two 1x1 FB squares and never had a fiber come out. I did not purchase it new though, so i don't know if the original owner had any fallout, but i've had them since January and they look new. I also purchased the costco system and used it for 9 holes today, and there were quite a few fibers that were on the ground. I personally don't like the system, packaged it up after nine and it's going back to costco tomorrow. Stance area just felt narrow, not much room to make practice swings especially with driver, you can't just drop a ball down as it bounces off the mat and not enough room to use my callaway ball feeder, and it felt too soft underfoot. Just couldn't get comfortable hitting the ball off of the little "island" of turf. But hey, it saved me another $125 since i was looking at the plastic ball feeder with the drop down arm to work with this system.Comment

I've been using a 12" x 36" FiberBuilt hitting strip for about 9 months. When I first got it my clubs and the immediate surrounding area of the hitting strip got covered in fine green dust. That stopped happening after about 3 weeks. I have been hitting off the same spot on the strip for the whole time and although I can see discoloration at that spot it hasn't formed a low spot.Comment

I couldn’t find Individual FB hitting strip sections on the FB consumer website. I did find them on their commercial site, but I haven’t I checked with FB to see if they will sell stuff from the commercial site to general consumers.
I know that all of the complete Fiberbuilt hitting mats have a plastic mounting tray with a plastic border.
I would like to buy the same size FiberBuilt hitting strip that you have and insert it into a cutout that I would make in my existing hitting mat that is killing my joints. But I’m not sure if the individual FB hitting strips can be used on their own like I would like to without their special underlayment and mounting tray.

I just insert two 12 x 12 Fiberbuilt panels into my CCE 5 x 5 mat. The height is the same so fit is flawless. I did not buy them with the metal frame as I need to be able to easily remove them when I move my mat. The 2 squares have a hard plastic base which interlock and I taped them on the bottom with duct tape to keep them together. I emailed Fiberbuilt and they gave me the number for a commercial rep. $118 delivered total. I requested no tee holes. It’s like night and day hitting off these. I always felt like I was hitting off rock hard ground with the CCE....found it very jarring. I’ve read the comments that you don’t feel the fat hit as much and while there is some truth to that I just don’t care cause now I can swing pain free! I have also found it to read my chips and pitches much better. Also reads my little cut flop which would never read off the CCE. Different setups work for different people but this is working much better for me. Good luck!Comment

Not bad at all....just turned mat upside down.....measured and used a straight edge and sharp utility knife. When you flip it back over I used scissors to trim the CCE fibers along the interior edges in order to fit the insert. As long as you are careful and take your time you shouldn’t have any problems.

I don’t think fibers flying off a brand new fiberbuilt mat would mean it’s defective. If you think about the mats journey to your house, it started in a fiberbuilt factory where there has to be millions of fiberbuilt fibers and green dust floating around, it’s easy to understand that these extras might collect on the mat before it’s boxed and shipped.
As far wear showing in front of the tee I would think that is normal and expected. If you have wear showing 4 inches before the tee then that is another issue. 😉
I’ve done some cutting on a fiberbuilt mat and it appears to be extremely well made. And not to sound like too big a fiberbuilt homer, I will say that I don’t use it because it just didn’t work for my setup which is probably a little unique.Comment

there is no plastic tray on my hitting strip, it's just 3 panels held together by screws through 2 side steel angles. I could send you a photo tomorrow if you like.Comment
