  • My thoughts on my new fiberbuilt strip!

As i mentioned another thread, I bit the bullet and got an FB strip to go alongside my CCE mat. Finally decided to lessen the wear and tear on my wrists and elbows so i can practice more. Several observations (some good, some bad).

Shipping was fast but packaging was surprisingly poor. The strip was not wrapped in any way and it, along with the tees i ordered were just lose in the box.

The strip sheds A LOT...seems like there are fibers everywhere. At this rate of fiber loss, i wonder when it will develop a bald spot. Already had to vacuum once. Hope that lessens over time.

Because it is slighly less than 36 inches wide and my CCE mat is 3x4...i had to add a strip of CCE to fill the 1 inch gap. Now it looks like one single 3x5 matt. It's also nice and heavy. I like that!

The tees are a disappointment....they are too rigid and almost metallic sounding when the club hits them. Immediately put them aside and am re-using the white rubber tee holder that I was using in the CCE. Also it took awhile to reconfigure my setup to work with the preexisting holes in the FB strip as i like to be be able to seamlessly hit off tee or mat by sliding my skytrak side to side. Finally think i it right.

In spite of all that...the pleasure of hitting off the FB mat is FOR REAL!! No harsh shocks thru my wrists and no fear to hit down and thru the ball. Hit about 100 iron shots tonight and dont feel sore at all. The ball sits nicely on the mat and i am getting ZERO "no-reads" on my skytrak now. My skytrak seems to like the fiberbuilt surface and contact better than CCE. CCE is still a great stance mat but i really like hitting off fiberbuilt and am seeing more consistent distance on irons with better spin numbers. Overall i highly recommend for better playability. Here are some pics.

What holds it in place against your stance mat?

That looks great. Mine doesn't shed any fibers now maybe in the beginning. Can't remember though.
I don't move my launch monitor at all and I use baosity yellow tee for driving. Works great.

Ordered the Baosity tees. If they work well, I will simply flip my FB strip around and ignore their pre-drilled holes altogether. Thanks for the tip Wizard.

I second the baosity tee for fiberbuilt. And you can easily trim them down to size if need be with a razor blade through the prepunched holes.

Did you trim that black one down? I haven't attempted it yet. I use the yellow one at its original height. Do you?

      Jrz,

I use one of those office desk chair mats from office depot that are made for being able roll your office chair on carpet. I use double side tape for the CCE and strong velcro on for the FB strip and place both on the same desk mat. Thats what keeps them together. There are studs on the other side of it and prevent it from moving on carpet. Pic of what i use below.

      Wizard and wbond,

Thanks for the idea on baosity tees. Question for both of you. Do you find that these tees become secondary projectiles that also hit your impact screen. I have been super concerned that tees flying into my screen might cause damage in worse case or color transfer at a minimum.

i assume you two have no issues with that?

I tied them to an elastic cord and used a teeclaw so i don't have to chase anything around. They are very soft rubber so it will not cause any damage, not sure on the color, haven't noticed any. Just know they ship from china and take a few weeks or so. I ordered the 9 pack since it was only a few dollars more.

I also noticed the SkyTrak has much fewer misreads on Fiberbuilt turf.

I gotta ask where did you get that awesome sliding track your SkyTrak sits on.. made it yourself??

My screen is 8-9 ft away and I just send the tee into the screen. Like wbond said very soft rubber. They won't hurt anything. Now I've got to see if I can trim the black one. The yellow one is perfect for my driver. That is the only one i use. Black is too tall and white too short.
wbond did you trim the white one down for 3wood or irons?

I trimmed the white because it was a little to tall. I didn't trim the dark one since the yellow was a good height already.

What tees are you referencing? I have seen some people purchase the adjustable tees, and other just a regular rubber tee

I literally just received these tees today they are great.
Very soft rubber. They are the knockoff version of baosity. 16$ Canadian so practically free in USD
9 tees are included shipping was about 2 weeks

That's the same tee in the picture as I have.

You're in Canada? Golftown has them for $8. Lol

They don't work well when measuring impact location with footspray but other than that are OK.
