As i mentioned another thread, I bit the bullet and got an FB strip to go alongside my CCE mat. Finally decided to lessen the wear and tear on my wrists and elbows so i can practice more. Several observations (some good, some bad).
Shipping was fast but packaging was surprisingly poor. The strip was not wrapped in any way and it, along with the tees i ordered were just lose in the box.
The strip sheds A LOT...seems like there are fibers everywhere. At this rate of fiber loss, i wonder when it will develop a bald spot. Already had to vacuum once. Hope that lessens over time.
Because it is slighly less than 36 inches wide and my CCE mat is 3x4...i had to add a strip of CCE to fill the 1 inch gap. Now it looks like one single 3x5 matt. It's also nice and heavy. I like that!
The tees are a disappointment....they are too rigid and almost metallic sounding when the club hits them. Immediately put them aside and am re-using the white rubber tee holder that I was using in the CCE. Also it took awhile to reconfigure my setup to work with the preexisting holes in the FB strip as i like to be be able to seamlessly hit off tee or mat by sliding my skytrak side to side. Finally think i it right.
In spite of all that...the pleasure of hitting off the FB mat is FOR REAL!! No harsh shocks thru my wrists and no fear to hit down and thru the ball. Hit about 100 iron shots tonight and dont feel sore at all. The ball sits nicely on the mat and i am getting ZERO "no-reads" on my skytrak now. My skytrak seems to like the fiberbuilt surface and contact better than CCE. CCE is still a great stance mat but i really like hitting off fiberbuilt and am seeing more consistent distance on irons with better spin numbers. Overall i highly recommend for better playability. Here are some pics.
