  • Sand on Turf?

    Sanding your Turf.
I know some of you have more than just a Stace mat and hitting strip. So wondering if members had used sand indoors as they do outdoors for the artifcal turf? For weighting the turf down, filling the weave and making the fibres stand correctly.
    regards indo

When I installed my putting turf indoors, the guy told me that if needed, they could add sand and rake it into the turf and that would help anchor the turf as well as speed up the green. After installing my 15 x 24 section, I found that I did not need to anchor the turf as it was heavy enough and I liked the speed of the green, so, I did not add sand.....but, I do know that some people do.

They also have some non sand stuff that is green, I seen at the turf place, I have a outside green with sand back fill, if you do back fill indoors you won't be able to vacuum the green if needed, well a shop vac will work - but it well remove the back fill and sand is vey hard on a shop vac and will be the end of carpet vac..

From a build point of view infill turf indoors is not a great idea, there are superb premium putting turfs available that require no sand infill at all Click image for larger version
