Looking at purchasing the fiberbuilt 9’x4’ mat possibly. I currently have a make shift mat with the fiberbuilt flight deck built in and I like hitting off of it but think it could be time to buy the full mat. Looking for anyone who has this or similar for pros and cons? Does this mat work well with Skytrak? Also wondering is the rubber base and size of this mat would keep it from moving on a concrete floor? Also would waiting until after the PGA show Be better? Any feedback is appreciated

Topical as I am in the process of bringing my ST from garage into the house. I was playing with the idea of buying a thick and heavy rubber mat for stance mat, and making a cut out for flight deck. It won't cost me much, but needs to look presentable, which I think I can pull off. But it won't be easy to move (100+ pounds). Tempted to just buy full Fiberbuilt stance mat with inserts. I have more time than money, but need to get going on this.

Just my 2 cents
im not a fan of any Matt with fibers that stand straight up
like the fibrebuilt hitting strips
yes they are easy on the body
but simply not realistic to a fairway
actully I find them similar to a t box with a very short t
the fibers simply don’t decrease club head speed near enough on slightly fat shots
so you end up hitting the ball slight high on the face with very good ( too good ) club speed resulting in a decent looking and sounding shot
i prefer the Matt’s with bent fibers like cce ( a bit too tough) truestike ( decent) and several others I’ve hit at in fittings and such
u want a Matt the reduced bounce ( although bounce is easy to read on a sim ) so I prefer it to a Matt that simply allows the club to flow though an slight fat hits
all Matt’s are a serious compromise ive come to the conclusion that more important than the Matt is to learn to read your miss hits on the Matt you’ve got or end up with
1 ) true strike gel
2) cce county club elite
3) fibrebuilt

This is a good point. I’ve noticed hitting on the flight deck that I feel like the ball is hitting higher on the face on some good iron strikes, but I also am on the higher end for swing speed average. I think ideally for me the true strike would be best, I’m just worried about buying that option and in a month my wrists starting to feel soar as that’s why I ended up buying the flight deck insert and dropping it into an all turf mat I was using prior.

I used the Country club elite CCE for 7 months and I had two serious injuries. I would have never thought this would happen but I dont think I have even played that much golf. I also hit pure down through the ball and this completely ate my wrist and elbow up. I felt like I had aged 15 + years very fast. I bought two Fiber built strips, one for left side and one for right side. Turned the CCE sideways for stance and hit off the fiber built strips. This was about 5 months ago or so and currently I have 0 pains or issues. I have a small list of gripes about the fiber built mat but no huge deal, and because of the injuries that have disappeared they are only thoughts I will not use any other mat.

Whats more important, not being injured or worrying about getting injured or getting a little better result from a slightly fat shot on the sim vs what you would see outside?

Yes that’s a good way to put it and clearly I’d rather have the health. I think ideally I’d like to have a true strike but I believe my mind is made up on fiberbuilt because of this. I was more hoping for feedback on this particular 9’x4’ Mat and if anyone has seen sales after the PGA show or whether now is as good of time to buy as any.

Another problem I have with my make shift mat is that the flight deck is very slightly above my stance mat. Because the ball sits so high on the fiberbuilt and I tend to hit down on the ball, I find myself catching a lot more fat. In the pictures it looks like the 9’x4’ mat has a slightly higher stance mat than hitting surface which would help with this. Can anyone confirm that is the case?

Practice doesn’t make perfect
perfect practice makes perfect
if your a pure ball striker then I’d agree
if not and ball striking is the purpose of your practice then getting away with fat shots will hurt your game more than help it
Matt’s are a really big compromise when practicing
but both cce and fibrebuilt arnt the best compromise
i will and have said
ive hit on some decent Matt’s at club champion and a local club I hit at in the winter and they are both the best compromise Matt’s I’ve found
both are inserts and something short of that tight tight cce
feel but of similar construction
sadly lve had no luck figuring out what they are
if I could figure out 100 percent what they were it’s what I would have but for now my truestike is a fair compromise
no pain
no injury
minimal bounce
and it will penalize a heavy hit
