Can a 16:9 projector be a 16:10

you have a wider screen than me - I would have to mount it 5'7' from screen and I'm more worried about skying a ball off the top of a wood than actually hitting it with my club.
I tried some trigonometry and figured that mounting the MU706 312.5' from screen with me at 9ft would avoid casting my shadow, although its been a long while since I was taught it and may be getting my sums wrong...
The real incentive for me though is that with my room dimensions having a 16:10 aspect ratio is better than 16:9 but I still want HD

I'm not concerned with skying one with a wood, so I guess you have a point. I would go with the BenQ 2150ST. The front of it would be mounted at 8'3" for the width you are looking at. Many users on this forum use it and I haven't seen anything bad posted about it. The MU706 is designed more for setting on a table for presentations rather than mounted from the ceiling or floor. I think it would be difficult to get the keystone adjustments correct without mounting it first, but those adjustments would affect the width. The other 2 projectors I suggested shouldn't really need any keystone adjustments if mounted correctly.

I think that's a US only model though. It looks great other than that its 16:9 which will leave me with a foot of blank screen at the top or bottom.

You can set both of the projectors I mentioned to 1920x1200 (16:10 ratio)

Yes but at a loss of resolution. I'm going to try and work out if the native 16:10 benq works or there is an acer model p5627 with similar specs and a small offset.

Because the sensor has 1920 x 1080 pixels whereas a 16:10 native has 1920 x 1200. There just isn't the number of pixels available to get the extra image height. I'm sure it would still be a good image but it physically can't be the same resolution
