  • Do i need a short throw?

    Hello Everyone,

I went to the projectorcentral site, but their calculator doesn't give me the information I need.

I am trying to figure out if i need a short-throw projector or not. I am leaning towards no. My screen/room dimensions are as follows.

    Screen: 12x10
    Room Width: 13
    Depth: 20+ft
    Hitting Distance: 8ft from screen
    Ceiling height: 13ft

I am trying to figure out, if I utilize keystoning, do I need a short throw because I am standing 8ft from the screen? Or will I be able to have the projector high enough and at an angle that I will avoid shadows from hitting @ 8ft. I am trying to find the cheapest possible projector. I can also make the room very dark if needed.

Also, I am hitting off center(about a foot) to give room for driver practice swings behind me. So I think I will need to project on the right side of the screen and just have a part of the left side(am a righty) of the screen not projected on. Not sure what the best way to deal with this is.

What have you done in the end? I'm trying to decide on projectors right now too and want to mount on the wall behind me rather than short throw from the ceiling.

You can try this one as well. http://www.carlofet.com/projector-ce...alculator-pro/. You have to install flash to get it to run.

8 feet is fairly short. You can keystone, but for me it reduces the image slightly.

        Hi guys,

please see see link below, it is for a UK site but if you use the calculator on the side it should select only the projectors that will produce the picture size from a min and max distance away from the screen I’m looking at a room 4m W x 3m H x 5m deep(not very deep) so I need a short throw.
i have also used the expert online chat on this website and they know what they are talking about.

        HOPE THIS HELPS!

Not sure what software you will use, but you can offset in most so you can project on the entire screen and then adjust the offset in the software
