  • Projector for a 14.5’ x 9.5’ screen?

Have a GeForce GTX 1660 Ti on the way. Will be hanging a 14.5’ x 9.5’ screen. Running TGC 19 and a Uneekor QED. Any good projector recommendations to fill that screen as much as possible? Have a little over 20’ from screen to adjacent wall.

Lots of projectors will work. As far as image size, you have the following options:

If you mean 14.5’ x 9.5’ visible (so no border):
    16:9 - 14’6” x 8’1.875”
    4:3 - 12’8” x 9’6”
    16:10 (not many capable of this output) - 14’6” x 9’0.75”

14’ x 9’ image (3” border sides, maybe more up top):
    16:9 - 14’ x 7’10.5”
    4:3 - 12’0” x 9’0”
    16:10 (not many capable of this output) - 14’0” x 8’9”

So really you need to figure out the max in each direction after hiding clamps, grommets, or whatever and figure your best image size from there. 16:10 likely the best, but very few projectors can display this (some say they do, but just input it and display as 16:9).

When I look up the EHC 1080 on projector central, says it would have to be almost 17’ away from screen in 16:9 ratio. Seems a little excessive. Hoping to find something that can throw 14-15’ wide image from 10’ away. Might have to temper my expectations tho. Lots of factors.

When combined with a GTX or RTX graphics card, the projectors I sell the most of (BenQ TH671ST) can be dialed-in to whatever aspect ratio you want, including square, so you can perfectly fill your screen: https://store.gunghogolf.com/BenQ-TH...new-p255287242

Are you ceiling mounting the projector? If so, what height is the ceiling? I just did an optima gtr1090hdr and hung it from a 10ft ceiling at a distance of 7’6” and it fills up your exact screen dimensions. I wish my ceiling was 6” higher because the image is low to the ground because of the the 15” vertical offset.

Yes. Ceiling mount on 10’ feet ceiling. So at 7’6”, the GT1090hdr projects a 14.5 x 9.5 image? What graphics cars are you using to push the image to the Optoma? Thanks for the feedback here.

I'm running a RTX 2060 super. Take a look at projector central for their throw distance calculation. https://www.projectorcentral.com/pro...ulator-pro.cfm

Highly recommend a BenQ TK850, 4k medium throw. Make sure it fits in your space though, will need to be mounted at 10'+ high and probably about 15' away, so that it doesn't cast a shadow

Calculator says that projector would need to be 19’ away to project a 207” image. I’m looking at the Optoma GT1090HDR which needs to be around 7.5’ from screen to throw the same size image. Any feedback on the 1090HDR?

This a pic of my current set up. Projector is about 16’ away. I can measure more accurately this weekend. Screen is about 14’ or so wide

Yeah, I haven't fully completed my set up. For now I have the wall behind it covered with cushions and pillows, lol. Which I did only after pounding one into the wall and it left a nice ball sized ding in the wall, but the wife doesn't read this forum, so its all good.

At that distance does it not cast a shadow while you're hitting?

It does not. It is about 9-10' high, I will have to measure it

Also, I use the 4K projector for movies as well. The way I have it mounted, I can easily move it. Also, it is a 3D projector, which I value. I believe the game looks only a bit better in 4K, not enough if you’re buying it just for the game, unless they come up with a 4K version

          Reshade? Can you share?

Sure, what do you want to know. Install reshade, point it to the executable file for your game, enable, FakeHDR, Technicolor

Hey Romax - would you mind sharing your exact measurement distance from the screen and height? I may end up doing something very similar. Thanks!

the bottom of the projector is 121" from the floor. Projector is angled down. I have it sitting on shelf I built using plywood and shelf brackets. It is angled down using a small piece of 2x4. My hitting area is about 8'6" from the screen, it feels extremely immersive
